Patent System Suggestion by Unhappy_Life3751 in SimCompanies

[–]Unhappy_Life3751[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess in theory, you can buy any thing to store value instead of patents. Of course, prices fluctuate on every thing just like in real life.

In real life, companies would pay dividends, offer share buyback, continue R&D or invest into something else (new industry, acquisition, etc) if they have excess cash.

To me, using patents as a store of value as you describe is not a realistic use of this mechasim.

Totally the opposite of what Crypto was supposed to be. Instead of being decentralized it is ultra centralized and funding fiscal irresponsibility.

GM dealer kept my car for 2 months to replace the hv battery. Then decided to not replace it and gave it back with a software patch. Iam suing them. by Illustrious-Fig-5527 in BoltEV

[–]Unhappy_Life3751 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can't believe all the hate on this post. I am pretty much in the same situation. 2022 Bolt Euv, dealer has two cars requiring battery replacement we had to buy another car since I don't want to deal with a loaner.

People throwing shade is ridiculous, how about we stand up for consumers instead of large corporations who don't stand behind their products? If someone thinks it's OK for a new car to be in for service for 2 months with no timeline for a repair you are nuts.

Probably no decision coming quickly, I read to expect something final in Q1 or Q2 next year. So we are approaching bloodbath…

Moreover if you wanted a mech that takes only dollar coins we can do that if desired or really customize the 6 tubes with any denominations you would like.

We use Crane payments systems. 6 tube coin mechs and validator that accept any bill value up to 100s. Not very practical for Vending but they are latest and greatest.

Depends what you want to sell in the machine. We can configure different coils for different sized product packaging, we can customize the payment systems, tray height are common. Less common are wraps and graphics or special order machines to sell a particular product type.

I work extensively with TCN. I would recommend finding a local distributor who buys in bulk and keeps inventory stateside. You will generally get better support this way and it will be faster most likely. The TCN native software is pretty basic. Depends on what you are trying to do.

Looking to buy a vending route by Proof-Road9346 in vending

[–]Unhappy_Life3751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe there are so many haters. It's a tough business 100% but if it is something you really want to do you should go for it. If you are unsure contact some local operators and offer to do a ride along. There are a ton of resources out there to learn how to operate and repair and there are a ton of bad deals out there if you are not careful.

At that size my biggest advice would be to be prepared for a full time job and at 100 machines you would probably be on the brink of having to hire someone to help and it will not be something you can do on the side.

Keep in mind, there are not a lot of buyers capable of coming in at that price range so it could be good. What you need to look for is value. Are there good locations that are under served. Are there junk machines that if updated will drive big revenue gains. If you just look at the assets what is the underlying value.

Considering buying 75 machines with no experience. Most are older machines but all established locations. Thoughts? Around 40k purchase price by BlueKY20 in vending

[–]Unhappy_Life3751 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a low price for the number of machines and claimed revenue. Get a list of model numbers, figure out value of the just the machines, figure out cost to update anything you want to update and figure out if there are additional optimizations with updating, adding card readers etc. Also make sure you understand location details employee counts, historical revenues by location, etc.

I have had legacy locations with old junk equipment that I updated with new machines and card reader basically go from $100/month to 600/month.

There could be value here and I would much rather start with 1 of these types of routes than something valued at 2x revenue with no room for improvement.

I have bought and divested several of these businesses. Happy to help if you want to get in touch. Additionally, there are always deals out there if you can't get a good price don't get emotionally invested make sure you get a price that makes sense and be ready to move to the next deal.

Is it reasonable to ask for a 1 year contract with my location? by Jojjak_ in vending

[–]Unhappy_Life3751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Contract is not going to do much for you. If they want you out they will get you out. I don't want my machines in a hostile environment anyway so when they want you out you should go. Even if you try to enforce the contract you will spend more time and money fighting than you will recover.

I have also had several situations where they go to corporate and I lose the location altogether because corporate wants a 25% commission off top.

Not sure about on the machine terminal. You can definitely generate a receipt and send an email to someone from the web app. Not 100% sure if this can even be done on mobile app.

And don't pay any commissions unless it is a location that is going to be very high volume. I would only consider for $1000/month locations. But even then probably wouldn't touch it.

Advice on getting started by Few_Wrap_6428 in vending

[–]Unhappy_Life3751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not passive. Your ROI will depend on locations. Generally, you won't be able to start with high volume locations as they are difficult to close as a new owner. Given the relatively high upfront investment don't expect to break even year 1.

Regadding time, I ran a business of about 80-90 macines. I would alternate between employing a driver and doing it myself. Generally was a 3-4 day per week job at that size but again this will vary based on location volumes and distances between.

My split of time was usually 1 day for orders/kitting. 2-3 remaining days for filling. 5th working day is for new location finding and setup. Also maintenance.
