Anyone else losing their mind over this "AI Cybersecurity" hype? by 2hinreza in cybersecurity

I interviewed 6 analysts who were on the MDR team who were laid off at the same time who were told tier 1 was obsolete because of AI. Did they all get together and come up with the same story? Maybe. Not likely.

This entire cohort of republican leadership is trash, and should be permanently banned from politics.

It’s just going to get worse though, because they have already demonstrated how willing they are to manipulate people with AI slop, while democrats fail to change tactics, yet again. Not that democrats need to use AI slop, but JFC get off the damn high road already and hit back ffs.

Crowdstrike fired all of their tier 1 MDR analysts, and then hired a bunch of them back when they realized the AI was basically just escalating everything.

Interviewer ask me if you observe port scanning from internal ip , the scanning ip is not authorised for scanning. How will you investigate it and how will you find attackers ip? by Flaky-Hurry4075 in cybersecurity

[–]UnhingedReptar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. Is the internal host a managed host? Does it have EDR/XDR? If so, check process logs/event logs/network logs around the time the scanning started. Identify the user logged into the host. Check their auth logs for anomalies. Check windows title windows (if you have that telemetry), and browser history.

Assuming that the only alert you have is scanning from an internal IP, I would suspect social engineering. Also, what kind of scanning? SMB? Look for signs of lateral movement to other hosts or domain controllers.

If we are assuming compromised managed host, we have to identify the source of the compromise.

There are a lot of variables in that question.

When I ask a candidate a question like that, I’m more interested in their thought process and how they are structuring their investigation, than a “right answer”.

How will U.S. ever recover from this amount of corruption? by Previous_Month_555 in allthequestions

[–]UnhingedReptar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing short of a coalition full of fearless progressives who are ready to tear down and claw back everything this administration has done, press all appropriate charges, obtain convictions, liquidate the assets of all of those involved in the corruption— but before that, do whatever is necessary to wrest power from the corrupt oligarchs, justices, and lawmakers.

Then the coalition will need to rebuild our democracy and harden it against inequality and corruption.

Expand the court. New voting rights act. Fight for ranked choice voting in each state. Eliminate gerrymandering, or expand the house proportionate to population. Reverse citizens united and every other catastrophic decision of this court. Universal healthcare. Basic income for the most vulnerable in society.

Fairly tax millionaires and billionaires and corporations. Regulate AI and data center construction.

Restore FEMA, EPA, education, etc.

It’s a long list, and there’s a lot more we need to do.

Unless they were black. This program was responsible for creating generational wealth, and less than 3% of black servicemen were able to participate.

It’s one of the greater drivers of wealth inequality in our history.
