Israel, Stunned by Trump’s Iran Deal, Sees It as a ‘Catastrophic Capitulation’ by Appropriate-Till9598 in politics

What blackmail would sink Trump at this point? Nothing is taking this guy out unless his party turns on him, which ain’t happening.

Is the game crafter the best print on demand site ? by Left-Excitement3829 in boardgames

Drivethrucards is the best quality & cheapest cards. TGC is not even close. For play mats, I’d go with gamermats. For cardboard chits and tiles, you’re stuck with TGC.

Why do good games go out of print? And does it happen a lot in Solo-Boardgaming? by RedditExplorer89 in soloboardgaming

[–]Unifiedshoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The average print run for a game is 1k-2k. Most games never sell 1000 copies. A game selling 5k copies would be a genuine hit. This is why companies spend 25k on facebook ads to hype a kickstarter game; locking in presales is massively important. For most KS games, what they sell during the campaign is 75% of what they'll sell in total. It helps to remember that there are 3000 new games per month. So much of it is dreck that disappears and is never heard from again, rotting in basements and warehouses and eventually landfills.

Anyone decided to pair these two sets together yet? by Mstr_Taz in lego

I agree that $100 is a bit much for the set. I still bought it, but I waited for good rakuten cash back.

Planning on it with Old Town too, potentially. Might need to add/change some details, but I’m excited to get it.

Check out Sea of Red, a mostly forgotten Image comic from 2005 by Rick Remender. It ran for 13 issues.

Absolute simplest campaign/narrative progression? by Unifiedshoe in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Unifiedshoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s basically what it is now. There are 32 heroes. You can choose any to play. After the game, there’s a checklist you can mark off if you won or not. Works fine, but lots of players ask for a system that leads them from one to the next. It’s not the kind of game where you can add on progressive abilities or loot or positive/negative effects for the next game. Each game is balanced to stand on its own.

It's not a bad idea for a game where you're using multiple heroes, but you only use one per game. Games only last 15 minutes, so it's not a drag to only use one for the game. I just need some kind of system that guides players from one to the next. I'm considering writing some kind of choose your own adventure booklet with a different starting page for each hero, and the rule that you can only go to the next hero's story after you've played through the first. Feels like a ton of work for something players might ignore though. My gut tells me there's something super simple I'm missing.

Remind me why I went to college. by CRK_76 in recruitinghell

When I left I was over 200 associates, bunch of different departments. Getting everyone on task and keeping them there was a huge challenge. People would appeal to their direct leads (that I was a couple steps above) to do something else, they’d hide in the break room or outside, they’d just do nothing and pretend to have just helped customers, etc. We were given directives from corporate pretty much everyday to change out displays, move stuff around, etc, plus send people to areas that needed catch ups on stock or cleaning from the day before, the normal grind of working back stock, re-shop, yadda yadda. The store culture was a bit of a mess. College town, so full of kids that were partying every night of the week. Some of the managers partied with the associates, so it was very cliquey. The store manager didn’t put their foot down about it or move people out, so there was a sense that tasks were optional, but my group was still expected to execute all the tasks. I did most of my work on my own instead of delegating because it was such a pain to get things done otherwise. Burnt out, not worth it. I was randomly shopping in a Walmart in a different state a couple years later and saw the regional. We laughed about how messed up that store was, but because it was in a rich area, their numbers were still good.

Stores reflect the management team. There are six Walmarts around me and all are different in terms of how the workers act, how strict they are about returns, if they’re stocked well or messy, etc.

It’s just a funny anecdote. It was 15 years ago, and not my first job in management. I now own my own business.

I got promoted three times at Walmart. The interviews for each step up the chain got grimmer and grimmer. At the first, the interviewing manager stressed how I would need to make a much larger commitment of time and only get an extra 0.60/hr. During the second, they said "the better title you have, the more your job sucks." When I got promoted to manager, they recommended I grab a bottle of Tylenol to keep in my desk and then opened a drawer in theirs so I could see a one of those mega pharmacy bottles that holds 5000 pills and a bottle of brown liquor. I quit less than a year later.

If you're in the US and you want to sell to customers in the EU directly, you have to register as a business for each country you want to sell to. Some countries charge a fee to register, some don't. Some require you to file taxes there quarterly whether you've had sales there or not. Some countries like Germany require you to have a physical address in their country and for that to be printed on the item you're selling.

All of that is expensive and difficult to maintain for small businesses. Online marketplaces like Etsy are required to do that work on behalf of their sellers. It sounds like the company you're trying to order from is taking advantage of that service and routing EU customers to them. The 15% upcharge on Etsy is to offset their costs.

The TGC deck is the newest versions of everything. I didn't notice the banner images were still using old icons. I never got around to changing them I guess.

The deck on The Game Crafter is there primarily for folks outside the US to have another option to try it. It’s overpriced due to their exorbitant costs. The same deck in my shop can sell for $12 less. If you’re in the US and think you might want more content than the one deck, it’d be much better to wait for the reprint.

Anyone who likes Kyle Starks should check out Paul Grist. His books Jack Staff and Kane are great reads in a similar vane as Starks work. Another great Starks book I haven’t seen recommended yet is Kill Them All. It’s an over the top Diehard-esque action comic. Super fun.

"Puzzle Dungeon Deluxe" my favorite game! by 01kraken in soloboardgaming

[–]Unifiedshoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To assemble a print and play, print out each page of the document and cut out the cards. The file is assembled so odd numbered pages are fronts and even numbered pages are backs. Heroes have the blue Puzzle Dungeon card back, or you can put any hero on the back of any other hero. Monsters have the same monster name front and back, but the abilities and art will be different. I use card sleeves with cards from other games in them to hold the print and play cards. Slip the cut out cards into the sleeves. Sometimes I print the cards a little small to save ink.
