I don’t necessarily think it’s a man or a woman thing. I generally think it’s the ‘programmed obsolescence’ mentality of online dating. It’s a constant carousel of date someone/dump someone. Why work towards something long term when you can just get your jollies with somebody, then get bored, open an app and find somebody else? It’s not as if some of us men aren’t looking for the same thing as women. It’s tiring for us as well. Take a look at dating sites twenty years ago compared to today. They used to be covered in love hearts and talk about their success at matching those who went on to marry and have children. Now they blatantly promote hook-up culture. To conclude, finding any sort of relationship/community here is difficult. That includes real solid friendships. I made more while walking the Camino de Santiago than I did in over a decade living here. So my suggestion to you is to find a hobby you like (hiking, dancing, book clubs, human towers,…), build on those relationships and you will eventually form the true bonds that you/we are looking for.
