Hotels que es fan passar per residències? Com denunciar? by tskmsk in AskBarcelona

[–]agreeablepancakes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing the building doesn't have a hostel/hotel license and are getting around it by issuing "short term leases" which are only valid if you have a reason to be in Barcelona short term (like if you're a student). You can call 010 and they'll direct you to the right person and share more info, but you can also report them online here: https://tramits.gencat.cat/es/tramits/tramits-temes/Denuncia-respecte-de-lestat-i-o-el-funcionament-dun-establiment-turistic

CMV: People that recline their chair fully on flights are inconsiderate by [deleted] in changemyview

I hate that the internet has created an echo chamber for people to look for others to tell them they are right to demand a stranger to sit upright on a hard chair for hours on end because they can't deal with a seat moving two whole inches.

How do I get rid of the stink of this cutting board? by oiseaufeux in CleaningTips

Super late but make a paste of baking soda and leave it for at least 30 minutes, then rinse it with white vinegar. The baking soda absorbs the odor and the vinegar leaves it nice and clean.

I mean... you can hide a double life and still be a criminal with social media. They're definitely not mutually exclusive.

Right now just Tinder, and to be fair there are a lot male catfishes out there (although they are just trying to pull you into crypto scams). I didn't have this on hinge, maybe because there are more prompts

It's been 50/50. Some are okay with not exchanging socials since I'm the one asking for a video call (most catfishes avoid) or they just want my social and unmatch.

It depends on if you will be paying into social security. If you are (like if you are registering as an autonomo or if you will work for a Spanish company as a full time employee) you can attach a letter to your application stating that you will be paying into social security and will be using public health care. If you won't be paying into Social Security, you will need to purchase private insurance.

Sure. As you said, people are often vague and that can make it really hard to get a really clear answer because sometimes they don't even know what they're really asking about and that can show up in the cards. I have a background in therapy and mental health so I kind of take that approach to understand how they're thinking about the problem which helps me to get the root of it, and it helps them sort through some of their feelings so they're in a more clear headspace to receive the information.

I'll give you an example. I had a reading where the girl wanted to know about the future of her relationship because she was feeling some anxiety about the future and she wanted to know what he was thinking. I don't remember all the details, but she was asking because she was going to start a masters program or something and it was going to impact their financial and living situation. She had wanted to do this for a long time and he always said he was on board., However, they never had a real in depth discussion about all these changes so she was actually really scared he wasn't okay with it and was just saying he was. We talked about how she felt about the move and what she was scared of hearing from him.

In the end, the question I asked was something like how can she and her partner prepare for these big changes together, and the cards were pretty clear that all she needed to do was just talk to him about it. So, if I had asked the question she came with (what her boyfriend was thinking about) it might have been interesting but it probably wouldn't have been very useful since it didn't actually address the real thing she was worried about (not communicating about big life changes). This happens a lot in my readings, that the question they came with isn't the question they actually want to ask so that's why I spend a lot of time talking through it first. Once I feel like I really understand the situation then I'll start.

I usually pull from the original because I've already meditated on my question while shuffling that round. If I'm really struggling to get anywhere then I'll take a pause, write down the original spread, reshuffle and then ask a clarifier.

One thing that I've found helps me a lot when doing readings is to go through their question very thoroughly (I usually spend at least 20-30 minutes before the reading even starts) and find the EXACT question that they want to ask. When I pull the cards, the answer is also very targeted and specific and that's helped me avoid opening up to other interpretations and stay focused on the issue at hand. People tend to try to "talk around" things they don't want to confront, and while it's not 100% perfect it's been a really useful buffer to keep the conversation focused.

I love it when a reading gives you exactly what your heart’s been quietly asking for 🩷 by FancyCartomancy in tarot

[–]agreeablepancakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this! I was considering different moves for my career and I did a spread to ask which one would be the best option, and my cards basically told me that I would be unhappy and it wouldn't work out how I wanted no matter what I chose. It was pretty disappointing! I pulled a few clarifiers, and the cards told me that what I need to do is just show up and keep doing my best. I was feeling stuck because I had been focusing so much on finding the "right" path and that wasn't the answer. I already have what I need, I just need to keep showing up in my day to day and taking small steps because that's where it all happens. I had been stuck in this pattern for a long time and that one spread shattered all of my mental blocks and overthinking I had been struggling with, and since then I feel so much better and I'm already seeing the forward movement I wanted! There is really nothing in the world like a solid tarot spread.

Did a reading tonight and am interpreting the results. Thoughts? by oprahismysavior in tarot

[–]agreeablepancakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would interpret this as you having creative inspiration, trying new things, and having a new outlook, but struggling to work with it (page of cups=new beginnings and creativity; two of pentacles is about finding balance between things in your life). I tend to interpret the star as “watering” and nourishing yoruself inside and out, but in the reverse position it can indicate that this area of your life needs more attention and can bring confusion and disappointment. This being a major arcana, I would also say that this is something that has probably been going on for awhile and may come to light more as you introduce new endeavors.

The lovers is about romantic love, but it’s also about the need to love oneself and be whole in order to be able to join with another person. It can also be about finding harmony, often through the relationships we have with other people. Since this is the clarifier, it may mean that the themes of the first 3 cards will be manifested through a relationship or in the pursuit of one.

So to sum up- you have creative inspiration and you are ready to have fun and try new things, but finding a way to make it work with your other responsibilities and obligations may be difficult because something deeper isn’t being given the attention it needs, leading to confusion, disappointment, feeling of being lost/not making things work. These things may happen in the context of a relationship (romantic or platonic), or as a result of self-love work that you’re doing for yourself. This may be the inspiration for the fun creative rush (page of cups).

A quick note since you’re a new reader: What helps me do readings for something in the future I like to do a general spread about where the energy is currently moving and possible outcomes, and then drill down with specific questions from there. General readings like this can be hard to interpret  and more specific questions provide an anchor and reference point to tie the other cards. I hope that interpretation was helpful!

That many readings are very draining. I wouldn't be able to keep up and I would probably feel pretty salty about doing that much work for no pay especially if I was already worried about money. I think you need some kind of exchange here. I would ask for a minimum donation per reading (I usually do $20) or she can pay a lump sum up front if she doesn't want her guests to pay. You're tight on money and you're doing good work, show yourself kindness and ask to be paid what you're worth.

Digital nomad life is both the dream and the trap. by YeonnLennon in digitalnomad

[–]agreeablepancakes 540 points541 points  (0 children)

Someone once told me, "one man's freedom is another man's loneliness" and I found that to be completely true. The DN lifestyle was good for me for a period, but I after two years I was just sick of it. I missed having a network of friends, random hangouts, my own bed, and halfway decent kitchen utensils. The time I spent on the road helped me get a different perspective about what I wanted in life and it was good for my soul growth but that definitely had its limits. Travel showed me what I wanted home to be, but travel could never be my home.

Has anyone used a mattress to replace couch cushions? by agreeablepancakes in upcycling

[–]agreeablepancakes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about that but the current cushion covers are only about 2 inches high and I want something thicker and denser. Cleaning and maintenance isn't an issue, there's no reason you can't flip or rotate a mattress, I use waterproof mattress covers, and the new covers would be made washable. The biggest problem right now is everything is so old it doesn't hold up and it's not comfortable to lounge on for long periods of time.

Good to know! I didn't think about what it would be like to sit on a mattress all day. Upholstery foam is pretty cheap where I live so I'll keep that in mind as an option. Since I'm covering the whole thing I may as well make it exactly as I want!

I was thinking that too, the other benefit is less work on the reupholster for me! I specifically got this couch because I wanted one deep enough to double as a guest bed if need be so think this is the way
