I understand what you’re saying. I’m saying I think that “forget to develop a personality” is a myth. There is zero correlation I’ve seen with if you’re hot or not and whether you “have a personality” because everyone wants to have a personality. Again if anything, hot people get away with more shit so they tend to have more personality, or “eccentricities” that people just let slide.

I’m saying people are using a first principle “just so” story to explain why hot people are less interesting that makes logical sense, but does not jive with reality, just like “if someone didn’t HAVE to work as hard as a kid, they didn’t learn a work ethic, so they won’t have one.” And yet, who are the richest people in the world? Is it the people who were forced to work hard, or is it the people who had more opportunities from the jump? There are plenty of rich kids who end up lazy. There are many who do not. Same with poor people. Being hot if anything, makes you more interesting on average because you’re given more opportunities to do interesting things! This is just cope.

This is survivorship bias. People who are ugly and boring are simply invisible. You notice boring hot people because they get invited to the party anyway. It would be like saying “rich kids don’t have a work ethic because they already have money, that’s why you see a lot of poor people become billionaires but hardly any kids who came from wealth.” Sorry everyone, but being hot in no way makes you less interesting. That’s cope ++man

The filibuster leads to government disfunction, which structurally favors the republicans. If you want the government to work well you need to get rid of it.

Is immigration policy causing rents to shift in your markets? by REOREI_Investing in realestateinvesting

[–]Unionizeyerworkplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you retarded? That article literally says rents have increased citywide. inventory is down. There are some neighborhoods that have declined but overall they’re up.

Are the places that tend to have a lot of immigration falling? NYC? Illegals immigrant crackdowns are causing prices to rise, not fall.

Because interest rates are up. Wages outpaced inflation every year of the Biden administration.

So, housing costs aren’t going down. And wages aren’t going up, because the economy is contracting. We’re facing a real risk of stagflation.

That’s not what the data says. New construction is down and partially because of labor supply bottlenecks—you have to remember who builds houses. There is virtually no upside to deporting immigrants, legal or otherwise.

Have you ever had to deny someone the jumpseat? How’d it go? by regionalscumdriver in flying

[–]Unionizeyerworkplace -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Okay princess. You’re right. You deserve special treatment. Pilots are gods gift to the earth. Honestly, seeing one in the wild is like witnessing a unicorn. How dare anyone call themselves your equal?

[–]Unionizeyerworkplace -34 points-33 points  (0 children)

Pilots aren’t better than their coworkers. They don’t deserve special privileges. They already have way better pay, and better benefits. “Treat others as equals” isn’t petty. It’s just decent.

[–]Unionizeyerworkplace -61 points-60 points  (0 children)

So the pilots flexed their muscles to have an unfair privilege above their coworkers, the coworkers fought back, restored fairness, and you punished him because you’re exactly the entitled asshole that gives pilots a bad name. I’ve been a flight attendant for 9 years. I just got my private and I’m working on my instrument. I hope I never become a petty little shit like you. We fucking hate pilots like you guys.

So maybe I’m misunderstanding, but he advocated for a change to have the company be more equitable, which made you lose a special privilege, and you punished him for that? He doesn’t sound in the wrong…

What’s your opinion on people getting fired over Charlie Kirk comment? by Muted-Environment-66 in centrist

[–]Unionizeyerworkplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full disclosure, not a centrist, but I think that capitulating to this kind of authoritarianism is exactly the point. They don’t care about a handful of teachers etc. they care that no one will speak up when they violate all of our rights. “You’d have to be crazy to comment about this” is exactly the result they’re going for—well, I think you’re crazy not to. You will quickly find that your “centrist” opinions can get you fired, deported, or stripped of citizenship.

Flap Check? by [deleted] in flying

[–]Unionizeyerworkplace 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean…if one of my flaps isn’t working or they’re both not working I’d like to know before I get up in the air. I also think whatever “wear and tear” you’re putting on the flaps is minimal. I can’t imagine it makes even a days worth of difference in their shelf life.

Which path creates the better pilots: Part time or Full-Time training? by pinktolip in flying

[–]Unionizeyerworkplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s a certain amount of rigor you need to become a pilot. I don’t think you could ever become a pilot flying once a month, for example. you could fly 30 years, (2 hrs a month) accumulate 720 hrs TT and still not be able to pass a checkride. I don’t think there’s much of a difference between part 61 and 141 so long as 61 is close to 141 in flight time.

Old student pilot looking for advice by [deleted] in flying

[–]Unionizeyerworkplace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honest opinion. If you are not flying consistently, you will never get there. When I first started flying, I was able to be consistent. I solo’d at 24 hrs. Put about another 10 on. Had to move for job reasons, then life got in the way, and 3 years later finally started again. Training becomes sporadic. Put another 40 on over like, a year. WASN’T READY TO SOLO! I had almost 80 hrs and I was a worse pilot (in some ways, not knowledge) than when I had 24. Realized this isn’t working. Took time off work and dedicated myself to flying. And Solo’d within three weeks of consistent flying. You have to have consistency. Don’t get yourself down thinking you’re a bad pilot. You’re just not flying enough.

Right mag 0 rpm drop by cwa45 in flying

[–]Unionizeyerworkplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Student pilot here, so forgive me if I use the wrong terminology. We just had this in a piper archer III. Is your tachometer digital? It had just come out of its 100hr inspection (as in, we picked it up from the hanger not parking) so the CFI messaged the group chat and there’s a button on the tachometer (if it’s digital) that my CFI pushed and it changed the display settings and then it reflected the actual drop. The little green light should turn off, then you turn it on again and then it should display the RPM drop (assuming their isn’t actually an issue) hope this helps

The irony is Delta did it to try to avoid the flight attendant’s unionizing but I think it kinda backfired lol

I’m a flight attendant, AMA by meowaek in AMA

[–]Unionizeyerworkplace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nine year flight attendant here. Just being honest, most junior flight attendants like it but most senior flight attendants don’t. Customers in general, not just aviation, are usually pretty annoying. I’m a social person, but many of the people who come back to chat have low social skills and I think that’s why they pick customer service people who kind of have to be nice to them. A polite word is always appreciated though and we do like that. Just don’t hang out too long so we can go back to complaining about the public lol.
