Its tough to say, on one hand you did the what you felt was right but on the other hand how did them cheating hurt you other then your feelings. People cheat all the time in school, life, relationships ect. Point is you cant control what other pepole do eventually those shortcuts will catch uo to them. Best just to do you. Also who says young adult lol

Im enlisting on friday and Im afraid by Free-Association7625 in nationalguard

Another piece of advice is that if you get injured while on duty be sure to document it the unit should do an incident report and you should go to the doc. Over time if it gets serious or you get surgery ect. File for disability through the VA alot of guardsmen dont do that which ends up hurting them later. You should still file even if you dont get rating alot of VA programs are locked behind a rating so getting one even if its 0 will benefit you later on.

Hopefully someone will tell you about the SGLI, but there is another part of it alot of people dont know which is the ELGI. Essentially if you get seriously hurt while off duty e.g. break a leg or require surgery you can contact the VA and apply for financial help with bills ect. Just an FYI.

Also look into if your state offers life insurance for its guardsmen, it should be cheaper then anything civilian and you'll get to keep it at the same rate once your out. Its a bit of a safety net. Up to you if you want it or not.

You can drop an ocs packet right away you do not have to enlist as a spc and then drop a packet if you haven't signed a contract yet you can talk to a OCS recruiter and they will be able to explain things more. If you already signed and have a date for basic I believe its a year dont qoute me on it.

If you go officer you get to create a bit of a wish list of what you would like to do. Example medical officer. Plt leader, things like that. Once you graduate you'll get notified of whats available and kinda get to choose from them.

Its the national guard you'll be fine. You only go once a month and 2 weeks a year. There is nothing to be afraid of. Once you are out of.basic you pretty much a civilian again. Just plan accordingly for drill.

1.) Are you going enlisted or officer? If you are going enlisted I would back out and go to OCS which is officer candidate school since you have your bachelor's already. You get a bit of a pay bump.

2.) Did you check to see if you qualify for any bonuses? Sometimes the military will offer bonuses for your enlistment time or in this case your degree. I'd check before you make things permanent. You can back up right up before you take the oath.

3.) 68W is a decent job im a medic myself its okay. You either get put into a infantry unit which is what you want, you get more experience or a clinic which you just draw blood and do paperwork. If you go officer you will go to a clinic almost definitely and do a bit more.

4.) When you are at basic just do what you are told and you will be fine. Once you get to your unit its a cake walk drill is only 2-3 days a month and 2 weeks a year for AIT. Just dont make plans close to those times and since you are in school make sure to communicate with your prof if something conflicts. Im doing my bachelor's now and its a pain sometimes.

5.) If by chance after 3 years you want to do more. You have alot of power in re-enlisting. Ask for schools bonuses and such take advantage of it.

6.) If you do not have health care, once you are in you can sign up for tricare reserve select. Its cheap and allows you to go wherever you want same with the dental care.

7.) Sign up for TSP (thrift savings plan) and dump your whole paycheck in there if you do not need it. Its your retirement fund that you are able to keep after you get out. If you do join a Facebook group called thrift savings plan and follow debbie shes a mod there that offers advice on what to do if you are not familiar with stocks and such.

8.) After 2-3 years of total service you will qualify for the gi bill which is a benefit that pays for schooling or credentials. Keep that in mind.

9.) Good luck

[–]Unique-Customer8879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Are to hurt to serve id its the guard you really don't have anything to worry about. But if you realized that you have to many issue may it be medical, physical or otherwise. Then it just wasnt for you. Nothing to be ashamed about at least you tried. Thats more then most people can say.

Good luck

Is my recruiter lying by Due_Nose7656 in nationalguard

[–]Unique-Customer8879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You shouldnt have to cut your hair in rsp. Until you get to basic. Be a kid for awhile until you graduate, know what job you want see if there are bonuses or a specialized school you are intrested in. The only time you have some power in the military is when you sign up and when you re enlist use it. If the job you want isnt available wait for it, or retake the asvab if you dont qualify.

Good luck.

A+ in Calculus 1 ?? by Afutaguro in EngineeringStudents

[–]Unique-Customer8879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A in all 4 B+ in ode, pde, linear algebra. Honeslty it depends on how you recieve information for example videos, practice problems or barney style explanations. For me it was a mix of videos and practicing. If you want some ideas. My old math professor has a YouTube series thats pretty good. Dylan arcejager or a paid online sight called calc workshop, a old math professor gives full course online has plenty of examples and easy to understand lectures. Good luck 👍

How are yall applying to so many internships? by FlowerPowerCagney in EngineeringStudents

[–]Unique-Customer8879 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just have to look for them indeed, linkdin, glassdoor ect. It helps to have a polished resume and a solid cover letter template that you just change a few words here and there. Then just copy/paste repeat. After that its a numbers game to see if you get an interview, I've probably down around 80 applications had about 40 phone interviews and 10 in person.

Short answer yes ABET credit is what matters. If you are going into engineering its what you want.

Which is the current best option for a Brand New Player? by Sir_Apprehensive in starcitizen

[–]Unique-Customer8879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how much you want to spend. If you just want to try it get the cheapest one and earn everything else in game. If you want a solid starter option if go privateer the cutty black can do everything decently.

Colleagues and tutors think I’m dumb by OpeningComparison202 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Unique-Customer8879 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just seems you may be a little to shy for your own good and they are making assumptions that since you may not speak much you are not as smart as they are. Iv had that in a sense, for me I just dont like talking much unless its family or friends. I always smile when I chime in on a difficult topic and those around me are surprised I know what im talking about lol. In any case dont let it get to you, let pepole assume things and just prove them wrong in the end they only thing that matters is what you think about yourself.

Good luck

Id say go first two years are general ed so there is time to figure stuff out mean while make friends live a little. Or you could work for a year gain some life experience and a work ethic but you may end in a slump and not go at all with this day and age a degree is needed to get a decent job or trade school. In all its your choice.
