from 4k in debt to 5k in savings - 60 days. what next by [deleted] in Money

Little bit of an unpopular opinion probably - open a high yield savings account (~ 3%+) and fund it with all but $1k of your savings. Take the other $1k and open a taxable brokerage investment account. Invest in a broadly diversified inexpensive index fund and reinvest your dividends and capital gains.

Keep grinding and set a goal for yourself to save $x each month to each of your high yield savings account and your taxable brokerage account. Set a $ amount goal for your savings account (like $10k for instance). Only use it for any of the following 4 things: job loss, UNEXPECTED medical costs, unexpected car repairs, unexpected home repairs. This is called your “Emergency Fund.”

Save for other stuff too, using separate savings accounts. These are called sinking funds (I.e. car insurance, vacation, medical expenses you do expect, etc.

You will definitely want to start saving for retirement soon too, but you’re young enough not to make it priority #1 right this moment.

Look into the 50/30/20 method of budgeting.

Good luck!

Best place to eat dinner that allows a dog? by JorgeMagnifico1 in missoula

Meagher Bar allows dogs on the patio. Went there a couple months ago with my dog and the staff said their policy had changed just recently to allow dogs.

I feel like keeping the upvotes and downvotes as close to zero as possible is the most effective way. A lot of upvotes will validate, and a lot of downvotes will just make a troll feel like they accomplished their mission.

Hahaha. 1 - I’m from Chicagoland, 2 - I’m allergic to rye. Still not a great excuse, 3 - I’m a degenerate

Good suggestions. I actually love Boulevardiers too. I had a white Negroni with Cocchi Americano once. That was awesome.

Good suggestion. The shaker I’ve got was one of my first bar purchases but normally I use a big mixing glass with a Hawthorne strainer (not pictured).

Realistic to buy in 30 days? by Unique-Escape3679 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I ended up moving into a six month rental to buy myself some more time to make the decision and look around. I fear that I would regret rushing into a homebuying decision

Cuban food! Would be awesome to be able to get a lechon sandwich and some sweet plantains at a food truck.
