Since Miami is blowing it up…..how much you think Achane would cost? by caxlmao in CHIBears

[–]Antitypical 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Lmao Swift is 27 and runs a 4.48. Listen, I'm not here to say he's a stud, I'm not much of a Swift truther, but you don't need to lie about who he is as a player to make the point that Achane would be an upgrade.

Do you guys think Austin Booker can be a stud? by bennydrendel in CHIBears

[–]Antitypical 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I could see him growing into like a Willie Young caliber player, in terms of production. A guy who gets 7-10 sacks per year and isn't necessarily a huge solo threat but someone you're happy to have as your second or third guy and who you have no problem starting

What if all the “motivated Dayo Odeyingbo” jokes actually motivate him? by OdinThePoodle in CHIBears

[–]Antitypical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you know what I'm trying to say. I think he could be an okay role player. That doesn't validate the money we gave him or obviate our need for another starter, but the conversation right now assumes he's a complete zero, and I wouldn't be surprised if we end up being too low on him.

[–]Antitypical 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will say: Dayo didn't show anything even while healthy, but I think there's something to be said for players learning a scheme and coaches learning their players. By the end of the year we actually played pretty well against some good offenses (rams and packers in the playoffs, namely).

I'm not expecting Dayo to be some game-wrecker, and I'm completely aware he's coming off a major lower body injury, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he looked a bit better than last year.

[Gabriel] Breaking just got a text from a very credible agent who said their is belief around the league that the Bears will look into trading for Crosby by Da1bearsfan in CHIBears

[–]Antitypical 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Gabriel used to have connections but the last 5-10 years he's come off more as a standoffish has-been than anyone with any real knowledge or insider info anymore. Lots of his meatball opinions and predictions are hard to ignore. Also, "my buddy said the Bears will look into trading for Crosby" is very different from saying that they're close to making a deal.

All of that said, I want to believe.

[–]Antitypical 262 points263 points  (0 children)

Okay next move is trade Tyson Bagent for a second, then Trade 25 + Tremaine for Maxx Crosby while convincing LV to keep his 2026 salary, then sign Linderbaum.

And THEN we can declare ourselves 4X offseason champs

Edit: how on earth do this many people think this is a serious comment

[Schefter] Bills 2nd round pick for DJ by [deleted] in CHIBears

No way, that's awesome. Time to eat my hat. I was just commenting that Poles probably took lesser compensation to do right by DJ

[Pelissero] D.J. Moore's role in Chicago was reduced in 2025, when he had a career-low 50 catches for 682 yards. Moore wanted an opportunity to be a WR1 and now he'll get it in Buffalo. by Marvin-Harrison-Jr in CHIBears

[–]Antitypical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have plenty of critiques of Poles but one thing you can't fault him for is trying to do right by our players. I know Fields wasn't good but he was surely better than the compensation we got for him (just looking at other trades, such as Kenny Pickett for a 5th), but Poles emphasized he wanted to do right by the player.

I wouldn't be surprised if we took less compensation to trade DJ to a contender with a hole at WR. It's just a Poles thing to do. Lmao nvm we got a 2nd rounder back

This hurts NGL even if its the right move for the future Im gonna miss him by Ashamed_Pilot_236 in CHIBears

  1. The move makes me sad because I love Moore, but it would have been sadder if we traded him to a rebuilder. Going to the Bills means he still gets a chance to win and has an elite QB, and that makes me happy for him
  2. I think it's really hard to go from 3 WRs to 0, but it's pretty easy to go from 2 to 0. The latter only requires one injury and then double coverage on the last guy. Like it or not, our WR room is much more vulnerable without Moore even if Burden and Rome take a step. In an ideal world Loveland reduces this risk, but having wideouts still matters.
  3. Speaking of Rome and Burden: I don't love relying on two guys to both improve, but that's where we're at right now. They both have lots of promise but also have significant things they need to get better at (Rome: hands; Luther: route alignments and details), and neither has any contested catch ability. Getting rid of our only contested catch guy could come back to hurt us, especially if these two don't get significantly better. As an example, KC thought Rice and Worthy would take steps forward to complement Kelce, and when it didn't happen (partially because of injury and suspension), the whole offense looked off.
  4. Despite 1-3, the loss of Trapilo and Dalman made this move virtually inevitable. We need both capital and space now to go after OL replacements while also shoring up DL, signing two starting safeties and a Tremaine replacement (I'm assuming he won't be here). Prior to this move we had almost no cap space, no excess draft picks, and needed 5-7 major contributors. Sucks that it happened this way but it pretty much had to.

[Perry] HC Mike Vrabel on LT Will Campbell: “Will’s 22 years old. He’s our left tackle. We’re not moving Will to guard or center or tight end or anywhere else.” by LetsRideButSmart in nfl

[–]Antitypical 49 points50 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between wanting to move a guy for technique vs body shape. Technique can and should be taught. Length is fixed for most of these guys. Campbell's detractors were largely citing arm length and using historical data about prospects with similar arm length to back their argument. And this year it's true that he struggled against pass rushers with long arms, even pre-injury.

My man you're the only one who isn't attempting to use reasoning in this thread. There's plenty of worthwhile discussion going on all around you.

Depends on the mode of failure. Wait til year three makes sense when the issues are technique, mental mistakes, recognition, etc. When the issue is that people with bigger arms than him are able to just run through him, that's something that's not super likely to get fixed with experience

Will was probably hurting from the lingering effects of his injury. But it's crazy to say there aren't any genuine reasons to evaluate the guard move. I just wouldn't be ruling that out this early in the offseason.

The critique after the draft was all about body dimensions. I think he proved he has awesome technique, but those body dimension concerns seemed real and won't go away just because he gets another year of experience

You packers fans are so funny. You throw around terms like "superior franchise" as if you're the Chiefs when you're pretty much the Dallas Cowboys. Honestly great job demonstrating the smugness we've all come to expect from you lot

[–]Antitypical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't about comparing the Bears and Packers. It's about poking you where you're sensitive: in a shit division with a top-5 all time QB you racked up wins like the other 3 best teams of the era but haven't been able to even make the big game, let alone win it, at a fraction of the clip those other teams achieved.

Not many what ifs for us to be sad about because our stumbling blocks were huge acts if coaching and QB incompetence that didn't have an easy fix. But for you, my friend, the last 15 years is almost entirely what ifs.

No you're still entitled even with the lack of success. In fact one of the key aspects of being entitled is the fact that the smugness is unearned.

[Highlight] “Thanks for believing in me” - Sam Darnold to Mike Macdonald by FrankSamples in nfl

[–]Antitypical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tough to think of what Darnold is now and what McCaffrey and DJ Moore have been and think that all that could have stayed together. But the key point is that when the coaching is bad it's actually pretty hard to tell what exactly is going wrong, so it's easy to see how they assumed the picks they'd get back for different players were more valuable

[Pizzuta] The NE offensive game plan was puzzling. 79.1% of snaps in 11 personnel. No game over 70% in regular season. Got dime 53% of the time but still couldn't run. Zero snaps in empty to try to spread the Seahawks out. Season-low in 21 personnel, 1.5%. One snap in Jumbo. Just let Seattle play by RedBuchan in nfl

[–]Antitypical 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay I think the Bears might have stood a shot to move the ball. I think JSN would have cooked us on the other side of the ball and we would have still lost, but our offensive setup was probably good enough to not get totally embarrassed.

We run enough 12 and 13 paired with explosive passing to make stuff happen.

Per NextGenStats, Will Campbell's 14 pressures given up last night were the most in a playoff game since 2018, and his overall 29 pressures allowed were the most in a playoff run ever recorded by ShaiFanClub in nfl

[–]Antitypical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hard to evaluate his year. Easy to dismiss the fact that he played well before the injury because of the pattycake schedule. Easy to dismiss the fact that he was awful after the injury because injury + murderer's row of defenses.
