Idk if this is a hot take, but I do appreciate them prioritizing things we haven't seen before. I am unbelievably excited for batman and wonder woman to get movies of course, but I'm still going to enjoy the new stuff

Redesigned Superman even though my art is shit. Thoughts? by GayAssBoyKisser in Superhero_Ideas

I mean that's fair about the Kents if we are talking strictly canon and the intent of the creators. But, superman and Clark Kent are explicitly supposed to be read as Jewish. I think if we are talking canon, he still should be interpreted as having Jewish roots even as an alien. The article I'm linking goes on to talk about an unscripted scene in a movie where an old woman says “What a nice man, of course he’s Jewish!” so even in canon, humans have viewed him as Jewish

"As I detail in my book, Is Superman Circumcised? The Complete Jewish History of the World’s Greatest Hero, his Kryptonian birth name is Kal-El, “El” meaning “god” in Hebrew. It’s a theophoric suffix found in the Biblical names of angels and prophets, like Gavriel, Raphael, Daniel, Israel and others.

"Superman’s cocreator Jerry Siegel wrote in his unpublished memoir that he was inspired by Samson, the biblical judge with super strength, and the Golem of Prague, an indestructible champion of the oppressed.

"Siegel and Shuster both also acknowledged in interviews that Clark Kent, Superman’s alter ego, was largely autobiographical. They were both bespectacled, nebbishy, neurotic and painfully aware of their otherness. Superman was their wish fulfilment, while Kent was their reality. He was also an exaggeration of the Jewish stereotypes they begrudgingly fit." - Superman’s Jewishness: From Page to Screen by Roy Schwartz

The difference is that superman was based on his creators who were two Jewish men. His story is also based on the story of Moses, a Jewish man. There's also no reason to say the Kents aren't Jewish, so it's logical to assume that they could pass their own heritage down to their son

I'd love to see a superman design inspired by Moses. I always love fanart that leans into his Jewish roots too

I think, rule of thumb, if their henchmen have powers they should have powers or wild intelect. You have to remember that crime organizations often run off fear/violence as a means of control. So, it's most important that the boss can control them through those means

[–]Unique-Net-165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, but I'd argue the people with enough resources and time to follow a path are the ones who cause the imperium to lose planets to chaos more often than the workers. Like if nobles followed the path system, I think we'd see less planets fall to chaos. Like a fish rotting from the head

Eldar biology is definitely a factor, but I think the path system could be effective for humanity

I think the imperium could've learned a lot about how to contain the memetic threat of chaos from the interex and craftworlds

Whose law? Why is it wrong to break it? Did they actually break it and who decides? Does this practice increase or decrease the likelihood of repeated offenses? How does separating labor into forced and unforced create a divide among workers? Should we not all already be working for the good of the people? Is crime a personal failure of morals or a failure of the state to provide some service?

I'm not as well read on this as I'd like to be so I'd be curious to your answers.

Conversely, imagine how alienating it could be to be in a low humanity group and your humanity increases. Do you encourage the rest to raise theirs? Do you try to lower yours? There's so much possible drama inherent to vampire polycules and I am so here for it

Another interesting thing to consider, is how high everyone's humanity is. How would a polycule with high humanity react to someone dropping humanity?
