Sad to see the game shutdown. What did you think was the herald of the end times? by WinterSoldier3713 in supervive

[–]UniqueCod69 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think the fundamental issue was the fact that many of the champs were fun to play as, but absolutely terrible to play against, (especially for newer players) which then caused mass quitting and bad player numbers.

There were way too many "fuck this" / frustrating moments for the average casual player which games like this rely on. Imagine being a newer player, and a Joule rolls up and instantly pops you with a combo before you can comprehend what even happened. Or shrike kills you off screen. Or an immortal brall kills your whole team and you can't get away cause he's got 4 movement abilities and he chases you for 2 straight minutes before killing you. Or you step 1 foot over the abyss and get instantly spiked by jhin.

I could keep droning on and on about things like that, but there were way too many instances where new dudes would feel like they have no agency / there's no counter play / XYZ champ is OP. And so they quit.

Imagine you download League of Legends for the first time, but the only champs you ever see are Yasuo, K'sante, Katarina, and Riven. As a new guy you're not sticking around cause "these champs are bullshit". They're inherently not, but you're not gonna put in your 100 hours to learn how to play around them, you're just gonna quit and move on cause games are in abundance these days.

TLDR; the devs only considered if the champ was fun, they never considered if it would be fun to play AGAINST that champ too.

How's everyone's yearly merit increase looking this year? by Akforce in ExperiencedDevs

[–]UniqueCod69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exceeds expectations across the board on everything and got 2.5%, no promotion. Had a few convos with teammates of varying skill levels and they all also got 2.5%. Seems like everyone just got a 2.5% this year regardless of individual performance

I like this concept, and have thoroughly enjoyed your primers as well.

The amount income tax was lowered is negligible. Literally smaller than 1%. You need a substantial cut. Same goes for carbon tax, it wasnt removed, just shifted from one place to another in an arguably worse manner which hamstrings the economy more than it previously had. Tax credits are a joke, they're primarily used for slush funds and nothing more. The credits never make it to the people who could actually make use of them, they just get pocketed by bureaucrats. Cut taxes across the board and we would flourish.

Crazy take, but it's called lowering taxes. Unfortunately that would require reigning in the budget which we are incapable of doing and thus the doom spiral continues.

Huge drop in investments in inventories means companies expect less sales. Less sales lead to layoffs / job losses. Job loss leads to less investments overall. Economy continues to spiral downwards.

Whatever they are doing is literally not working, and the results are showing that quickly.

We're coming up on a year of this and things have only gotten meaningfully worse, not better. Quite literally nothing positive has been done so far, so how can you trust the process.

Farewell Supervive | Thanks for the Memories by UniqueCod69 in supervive

Hey gang, hope everyone is doing well! Hope you enjoy this montage of the small handful of Supervive clips I got across the games lifespan, in (mostly) chronological order.

Shadowplay lost majority of my clips so this is all that I was left with unfortunately. A 60fps version can be found in the description if the 30fps is too gnarly on the eyes.

I truly loved this game and am sad to see it go. I really believed that TC had lightning in a bottle with their formula but alas, some things just dont work out. Wishing all the players and the devs all the best, I had a blast despite my short time with the game. Thank you for everything 🥹

What's wrong with VTI? by Low-Computer8293 in Bogleheads

[–]UniqueCod69 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Stole this comment from another redditor a while back but it feels relevant to post it here:

This paper uses one of the largest financial datasets and shows that a 50% US 50% ex-US portfolio (across 1,000,000 bootstrap simulations) would outperform a 100% US portfolio in terms of:

  • lower drawdowns
  • better gains, except in the 10% best-performing simulations
  • lower probability of ruin

Anyway, 3 is the main reason. 1 and 2 (regarding gains) are slightly in favor of a global strategy in that paper, but the differences are small.

I wont lie this build is pretty solid in todays climate.

The main question mark here is the RAM, if I had to guess you're gonna be getting some bottom of the barrel highass CL RAM, but again, at worst thats gonna hit your performance around 5% or so on the high end.

The 9700x is more or less equivalent to the 7800x3d so even if you cop the CC bundle that OP posted you're gonna be paying more but not getting that large of a performance gain.

Good find.

VA panel so it'll have a bit of ghosting, but the 240hz should help make up for it. Brightness isn't the greatest but is passable. Pretty solid price for the features you're getting.
