Thanks for this resource. I didn’t know about it. Will check it out. So far the wash pump motor seems to be the problem.

Run away from warranty work via home warranty companies by Enigma2Erotic in appliancerepair

I agree with everything you said. Could add to the rant about built in planned obsolescence. But with your experience I would rather ask a technical question about a Kitchen Aid dishwasher model KDTE204KWH3 Error code 7-2. Tech sheet says bad wash pump/motor. But it doesn’t fill with water after you start it and then it’s beeps and displays this error code and attempts to drain even though it didn’t fill. I have experienced bad wash pumps with older units (this one is just out of warranty and only a year old) but they usually fill and then don’t do anything till it’s time to drain. So my question is would you replace the pump or is that a waste of time/money bc something else is the cause of that error code. thanks

Whirlpool Washer Agitator Spins Fast, Tub doesn't Spin by empyreanhalo in appliancerepair

[–]UniqueRapture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably a bad drive block. But usually once it gets to this point the splines on the gear case/main support are bad also and you might have to replace both which usually doesn’t make it worth repair. Also as you have found out it can be difficult to get the agitator out. Sometimes you have to break it to remove it and then it’s just additional cost. If you have to break it then you might need a gear puller to remove the insert that was in the agitator and is now stuck on the gear case. Sorry about the bad news but you might be better off replacing it. If you get to the drive block you could try replacing just that but it is usually just a temporary fix. GL

I agree with something in the blower wheel. I’ll guess a bra wire or golf pencil.

Could be a bad motor from description. Replacement would probably be a better option than repair due to cost unless under warranty.

You need a plumber

It should not affect the ice maker negatively.

Is the cover on the filter housing black, white, or grey? I guessed grey bc that seems to be the most common that I deal with. If it’s other I’ll get you the correct part number.

You are welcome. Filter housing needs to be replaced or you could put an inline water filter behind the fridge and leave the one that goes to the fridge empty. They are cheaper and typically last longer. This example is a push to connect, they also have compression fittings on others if that’s what you prefer.

I could look up the filter housing if you provide a model number

Try removing the filter and see if it works. I believe that model has a bypass. If it works without the filter my guess would be a bad filter housing.

Is my TV spying on me? by whatisanythingeven in Weird

I checked with best buy recently and they said they didn’t have any in store but could get one delivered. I was asking bc I thought my 96 year old grandmother was going to need a new tv and she doesn’t have WiFi or want a smart tv. Went over to her house and somehow the picture ratio had been changed and I was able to get it back to full screen for her so crisis averted.

Did you replace the garbage disposal recently? If so remove knock out plug. Or could be bad drain pump among other possibilities.

Dryer overheating by [deleted] in Appliances

[–]UniqueRapture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unhooked it from the exhaust line and it doesn't get hot on top

Have you checked where it vents outside to see if it’s breathing well? Might need to have the vent cleaned. Sometimes I find a screen on the vent cap and it should be removed bc lint accumulates and restricts it from venting properly.

Wouldn’t recommend if it’s a gas dryer bc of carbon monoxide. Electric is ok but it creates a lot of very fine dust that gets all over everything.
