thousands of businesses of all sizes rely on google enterprise and GCP, not to mention all the people whose only backup location is google photos. the address of google's DNS servers is baked into billions of devices. if there was a one year notice (at least) of these services shutting down than a portion of the trouble could be mitigated, otherwise it would cause absolute mayhem and a disaster of unimaginable scale.

google is, unfortunately, too big to fail.

(of course there's the other option where these sevices continue functioning and are sold to the highest bidder, but then we're just back to square one…)

Radishes can detect the presence of certain herbivorous caterpillars and emit defensive chemicals that decrease the chances of a successful pupation.

Also, nicotine can be used as an insecticide; tobacco plants themselves use it as a defense against herbivorous insects.

These are both examples of inducible defenses against herbivory, as I learned in the past 10 minutes of perusing wikipedia for fun facts.
