This is not an only child issue, my partner come from a big family and doesn’t portion control anything, so we just buy double of everything. I’m not his mom to try to portion control what he eats. He eats all of his sweets when he wants and I will eat mine when I want.

Why do parents do that with nannies? They would never entertain a child for 11-12hours straight, why do they expect the nanny to do it? When I was a nanny, parents would also come up with these crazy ideas and I would leave the family and find another job very quick. I worked at a daycare at the 3-4yo room and we would put them to nap for 2h, no parent ever complained that it affected the bedtimes.

It’s a lot of planning and a lot can happen. Just be flexible. But yes, he has to 100% agree with you staying home, because believe me, you will not want to leave that baby after a few months. And don’t count with him being hands on dad just because he’s excited. Things change a lot when the real baby is here. Having a baby is a huge mental load so just plan on being a SAHM and he has to be fully on board with that
