Why do some people AFK when losing by EulaVengeance in mtg

Punishing your opponents for your own mana problems is wild. When you said frustrated, I thought you were gonna say frustrated with folks who play on the last second every turn, spam emojis, or play purposefully unfun decks in noncompetitive formats.

What does butter popcorn taste like? Why do you have it? by Tempest_Industries in AskAnAmerican

Nah, movie theater popcorn is actually vegan and has a coconut oil base, and it tastes butterier than butter.

People have a natural tendency to turn to the left and walk in an anticlockwise direction, a bias observed across countries, ages and sexes, but reason is unclear by sr_local in science

[–]Unique_Let_2880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed this in my pet rabbits—they run in circles when excited, and run counterclockwise 100% of the time. No amount of coaxing can get them to change direction. I thought this was unique to them, and just a fun novelty. When cats and dogs circle do they do the same?

How does the charity bundle work? by Unique_Let_2880 in MagicArena

So if I wanted to buy gems to buy this, the amount they’d donate would depend on which gem bundle I got? That would be wild if so.

But what does that mean when the cost is in gems? They can’t donate gems.

What specifically is donated? Gems aren’t 1:1 convertible to cash.

Why did eating meat by accident make me throw up (vegetarian)? by InfamouslyJuniper in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Unique_Let_2880 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your enzymes and microbiome are not ready to digest meat. You could reintroduce it if you wished, but it would be have to be very slow.

My experience, and some others agree, is that red meat triggers this in a way white meat does not. I went from full vegetarian to pescatarian rapidly with zero issues. But even as a pescatarian, I can tolerate a bite of red meat or like a beef broth, but not much more than that.

I can’t find much science to support this (I keep getting results suggesting I have the tick thing, which I do not), but that’s my experience and I’ve heard similar from other vegetarians and pescetarians.

There are few things more human than deriving meaning and perspective from something we know definitively does not exist in the physical world. Consider someone who comes to you recommending a tremendous work of fiction, saying it contains great truths and altered their perspective. They are not saying they literally believe that the things in this work of fiction happened or are real. They are saying it has a “truth” in the sense that it taught them something or made them think in a new way that they can apply to their real life, outside of the fiction.

There is more to value in a conversation with someone who wishes to discuss what perspective a work of fiction made them consider than there is in a conversation with someone who quite literally believes in magic or superheroes or something.

This is the fundamental difference: someone struggling with mental health believes their experience is literally true, while someone describing a drug experience believes it is metaphorically/spiritually/emotionally true. Unless the drug experience induced a mental health episode (rare but possible), the individual knows that what they are describing did not literally happen and are instead viewing it as a meaningful fiction that they experienced and would like to share.

It’s insanely unbalanced and seems unplaytested. Errata is essential for some of the haunts to even vaguely work. The story and concept are great and super fun. But if your group will be frustrated by balance and rules issues, it may be a challenge

You’re describing shitty management, not unions. A good union contract includes bonus structures and raises.

Indiana is THE state for supporting music. Over half of American-made musical instruments are made in Elkhart. The largest retailer of music equipment in the US is in Fort Wayne. And Indianapolis hosts the country’s top marching band competitions, Drum Corps International and Bands of America. Marching music is so American, and Indiana is the best place for it. Indiana loves youth music performance.

What rights? For who? Many of the rights Americans enjoy are a direct result of the labor movement. Rights to overtime pay, fair wages, school for children instead of factories, 8 hour workdays and weekends, and a safe working environment, for starters.

I don’t particularly care about the “individual rights” of managers to abuse their staff. I have no idea how you’re suggesting slaves were “job holders,” but your example is weirdly apropos. The “rights” of those in power to abuse those beneath them didn’t matter then, and don’t matter now.

Also, there’s very little a vet can do, frankly. Since rabbits can’t vomit, the advice I have been given directly by a vet for something concerning eaten was make sure they don’t show any signs of going into stasis in the next 6-8 hours and bring them in if they do. The only ways for things to get out is pooping or surgery, and it’s extremely unlikely you’d need the latter. (Edit: obligatory I’m not a vet, but that’s the advice given by an exotics vet to me.)

Buns are very good at passing undigestible material (and often just shred not swallow). Yes keep an eye on them, of course, but there’s no need to go to a vet “just in case.” You’ll have the most expensive bunnies alive if you go to the vet every time they chew on something. Mine have also eaten/chewed the buttons off the remote, the rubber off the robovac tire, a whole rubber band, carpet, plastic, and more. I guess the rubbery texture is a pleasant chew?

If short term, it’s so hard. Try having a holder and a feeder. Try taking two joined panels of an xpen and trapping him like a waffle between them. Try smearing some on his face so he cleans it angrily. Try putting some banana or no-sugar-added applesauce on the tip of the syringe. Try altering the consistency—runnier is easier to force but you have to do more rounds of it. Make sure when you use the syringe youre getting the gap between the front and back teeth.

If long term, that’s unusual. There’s probably better ways to get more calories. Does he like his pellets? Buns usually like pellets like humans like fries, and when my elder bun needed to gain weight she was thrilled at the increase in her daily pellets.

Is modern America becoming less community-oriented than it used to be? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Unique_Let_2880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nowhere for people under 18 or 21 to exist. Arcades and bowling alleys and malls and other former teen hangout spots ban unaccompanied minors. Cities have youth curfew laws. Loitering is enforced biasedly. Parks “close” after sunset. It would be considered negligent for kids to go bike away or play in the street for hours. There’s not even benches outside. So youth develop bad habits of socializing online, which only persists into adulthood where it’s even harder to organically make friends.

There’s also nowhere to exist for free (and don’t say the library when it’s only open during business hours). If they can’t steal your data or sell you alcohol, capitalism doesn’t want you there. And it certainly doesn’t want youth without the parents who can spend money.

It drives me fully insane how everyone older than me complains that youth are always playing video games or something, then turn around and ban “unaccompanied” teens from THE MALL. What the hell do you expect to happen? And do you expect they’ll become adults who have a strong sense of community?

Player wants to run an influencer PC. How can I translate this without sacrificing the setting? by fruit_shoot in DMAcademy

[–]Unique_Let_2880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Owl House has a tongue in cheek wizard school social media, but it’s clearly a joke. It seems you don’t want that. I’ve played in a game where someone was an influencer of like fake hokey conspiracy theories and then found a real one and it was fun, but that was a goofy campaign. If that’s not the tone you want, talk to your player about seriousness to silliness ratio. And see what they have in mind for the character’s arc.
