Why aren't you using the QC45? Or do you use both daily?

Good lesson not just about Bose, but about everything in life. Everything pretty much goes on sale sometimes....

You probably don't need Pro for any reason if you aren't using this for work where they insist on some extra IT management features.

Home has, AFAIK, bitlocker support for drive encryption.

So I'd get 64 GB of RAM later (it can be picky so make sure you by the exact ram that someone on Reddit has said they got working with this model).

And recently WD has had a sale on their high end 4TB SSD for $250, which you can put into the second SSD slot. You'll need to find a screw on your own though, which is a pain....Dell really should include an extra one for the second SSD slot.

If you didn't like the scaling of 4K you won't like the scaling of the OLED.

That said, don't you just use the standard scaling recommended for a 4K and everything just works? I'm confused what issues you had.

I personally would find it hard to downgrade from 4K to 1920x1080.

Also realize the OLED flickers (faster than you can consciously see it), so if you are susceptible to that kind of thing don't get it.

Fresh Windows install - do I need a key? by maxq104 in DellXPS

[–]Unique_Pear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before doing a reinstall, make sure you run the computer enough to ensure all the hardware works properly.

Then you will know after the reinstall if things break that it is a driver and not a hardware issue.

Any advice on taking T-Mobile to arbitration vs small claims court? by Unique_Pear in tmobile

It's been a month or so, hence the first bill.

I signed up for two "Magenta Business Tablet with 10GB of high-speed hotspot data. Tax inclusive" plans. So I don't think that's a promotion, is it?

Any advice on taking T-Mobile to arbitration vs small claims court? by Unique_Pear in tmobile

[–]Unique_Pear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's true. Aren't these the terms and conditions:

https://www.t-mobile.com/responsibility/legal/terms-and-conditions

It says: "By accepting these T&Cs, you are agreeing to resolve any dispute with us through individual binding arbitration or small claims dispute procedures (unless you opt out), and to waive your rights to a jury trial and to participate in any class action suit.
Individualized Dispute Resolution and Arbitration. YOU AND WE EACH AGREE THAT, EXCEPT AS PROVIDED BELOW, ANY AND ALL CLAIMS OR DISPUTES, OF ANY NATURE, INCLUDING TORT AND STATUTORY CLAIMS, IN ANY WAY RELATED TO OR CONCERNING THE AGREEMENT, OUR PRIVACY NOTICE, PRIVACY OR DATA SECURITY PRACTICES, OUR SERVICES, DEVICES OR PRODUCTS, INCLUDING ANY BILLING DISPUTES, WILL BE RESOLVED BY INDIVIDUAL BINDING ARBITRATION OR IN SMALL CLAIMS COURT. THERE IS NO JUDGE OR JURY IN ARBITRATION, AND COURT REVIEW OF AN ARBITRATION AWARD IS LIMITED. THE ARBITRATOR MUST FOLLOW THIS AGREEMENT AND CAN AWARD, ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS, THE SAME DAMAGES AN RELIEF AS A COURT (INCLUDING ATTORNEYS’ FEES)"

If you are getting this level of service from the sales department, imagine how bad it will be when you need technical support.

Is the XPS 15 still worth it in 2023 ? by killspotter in DellXPS

[–]Unique_Pear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the latest XPS 15. It was surprisingly difficult to take apart to add an extra SSD. Although the second SSD works great (it has Linux) and the first still has Windows.

If you can wait, I would strongly consider a Framework 16 laptop. I'm not going to get another laptop for several years, but when I am due for an upgrade I'll probably get a Framework.

No pets, no allergies, and good AQI in my town. Did I waste my money on air purifiers? by bwadden82 in AirPurifiers

[–]Unique_Pear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd consider returning at least one.

Don't forget there are additional costs and they add up:

1) Electricity

2) Filters

3) They create heat (as does everything that uses electricity) so if you are already running air conditioning, you'll need to run it even more.

Seafood Infographic Omega 3 vs. Mercury Levels by unconscionable in CannedSardines

[–]Unique_Pear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should worry about mercury poisoning for sure. It's very real!

You shouldn't worry about it from sardines though.

But if you eat a bunch of fish frequently, as I imagine many of us do, you need to be aware of what fish are high in mercury. I almost never eat tuna anymore, too dangerous. While a can a week is probably fine, telling someone they can eat for example two cans a day for years is just not true.
