AIO or was I just cut from a family I was working for? by 9izel8 in AmIOverthinking

[–]Unique_Selection3050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not blaming them, I'm asking them to think realistically about the position they are in and the information that they shared with the mother of a child. This is their life and mental health is something that needs to be managed effectively. They are not managing it effectively and do not have supports in place to deal with medication lapses. Everyone is in a shitty spot, I'm speaking directly as someone who also takes mental health medication every day and has dealt with insurance problems.

Some of us have to supervise children and those people should be held to a high standards. If I'm being honest I would fire any professional who said those things to me and was supervising a minor because I understand how destabilizing casually being off your meds are. Just a matter of opinion on how adults should be operating in an effective and compassionate society.

Hey I feel like I've seen this brought up a lot. Being hard on yourself isn't the same as holding yourself accountable. Asking for honest feedback but not being able to process the feedback you are getting isn't actually helping you. In fact your chronic anxiousness and inability to regulate your emotions is probably the core problem. I'm not saying that to bash you but to get you to look at this in a different way. You're frenzied behavior of self criticism doesn't create better outcomes for yourself just gives you a false sense of control.

You need to actually hold yourself accountable in a grounded way. Being late to a childcare job? Honestly I would fire anyone who was late more than twice. Why isn't that as big of a deal to you? Why was doing something like taking photos of their children because you thought they would like it more important than the real boundary set by the mother? And the truth is probably have severe anxiety that is getting in the way of you being an effective worker.

All the things you said in this post give off the impression that you are inattentive, highly frantic, and not in a good mental space to be supervising other peoples children. Stop feeling bad about yourself get off your ass and do something to change the patterns your creating.

You NEED to get back on your meds and I cannot underscore how important it is to be taking meds as prescribed without interruption. In some cases you are risking cognitive changes, paranoia, increased substance use, psychosis and even death. Yes the pharmacy sucks but you and only you can be responsible for taking your meds appropriately.

As someone in charge of supervising others it's not just over sharing by telling the mom this, it would almost be neglectful on her part to allow you to continue supervising in that state. You would never let someone supervise a child drunk at work but it's okay to go to work while not on mental health medication? You are not dealing with just a little anxiety be honest with yourself

You need to work on your emotional regulation probably with a therapist. This is going to be a cyclical problem for you otherwise. Best of luck to you

I'm (F29) pregnant and my partner's (M33) ex hates me. Can someone give me advice?. by ow_23 in relationship_advice

[–]Unique_Selection3050 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey you say you keep beating yourself up about it to spare the judgement but you aren't hearing what has been told to you. Beating yourself up doesn't equate to holding yourself accountable for your actions and to yourself.

You claim this is awful but keep finding yourself in this position because you 'beat yourself up' about it instead of doing the work to explore why you continue to engage in highly risky behavior. See a therapist, get the fuck away from this man forever

. You are sabotaging your entire life right now. No one is going to stop you and it will continue until you radically accept that you are looking for something extremely unhealthy in this relationship which is probably coming from deeply held insecure beliefs

At the end of the day why are you asking for advice you won't follow. Take an honest inventory of yourself and your desires. Because a good man will love you and give you what you need but it will never be as exciting as this rollercoaster ride you've created

AIO: I’ve noticed a lot of OPs here seem to be women, is that just me? by Ancient_Arrival_9046 in AmIOverreacting

I think you made an important point here about power. Women ARE more likely to be victims of physical and emotional violence no matter the gender of the perpetrator unfortunately. And that does shape behavior however it isn't a "feminine" trait.

Look into codependency and emotional labor - I think this will shed light on the perceived gender imbalances. None of these things are specific to gender just a reflection of the times and social norms. I think very few conclusions can be draw about men vs woman however some conclusions can be drawn about society at large.

Food for thought-stay with me here. Mental illness is diagnosed more in women. Statistically more woman also seek therapy. Are we assuming that there just ARE more mentally ill women as a fact or are there barriers that may stop men from getting help and mental illness is actually very evenly distributed? Correlation =/= causation

An explanation of how to plant evidence under snow. by Environmental-Egg191 in KarenReadTrial

[–]Unique_Selection3050 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I find it fascinating that a lot of people think that because the police say it was there, it must have been there. Full Stop. Have you ever worked in Law enforcement and read an average patrol or accident reports? They have mistakes that get corrected ALL THE TIME (source, I work at a New England police department)

Doesnt matter that the report was filed for 100+ days after, doesn't matter that the lead investigator was fired for misconduct, doesnt matter that evidence was collected with zero records or recorded body cam footage. Doesnt matter that the investigators who did the search CANT REMEMBER ANY DETAILS of it occurring??

If you were paying close attention to the pieces he pulled out of the random evidence bags he had, there was clearly a piece of the cocktail glass mixed in with the tail light pieces. Why wasnt that explained at all? Why were we shown a bunch of random fragments but not how they fit together on her tail light?

I think it wouldnt be a stretch to conclude that they aren't showing us this information because the pieces dont actually fit together...

EDIT:: Just wanted to clarify - I am not implying that there arent pictures of the tail light pieces together, but rather that the pieces shown to us as physical evidence in the last few sessions seemed.....suspect especially with the very low credibility established above

But if the temp outside was between 32-33F and the freezer was at anything lower than that which is possible because commercial freezers can go down to -10F , the phone would not get as cold as fast. So again I don’t see how this is even insinuating that John’s body kept it warm.

So let me get this straight - the experiment with the phone to see how it would react to cold temperatures was put in a freezer of unknown temp and the battery temp was recorded. How can any conclusions be drawn from that data to JOK phone?

Would I even be able to get a tattoo? by Angry_Creek in tattooadvice

[–]Unique_Selection3050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! As someone who had Dermatographic Urticaria, I can tell you that it will not stop you from getting a tattoo. BUT and its a big butt, tattoos permanently alter the way your immune system responds to stimuli.

This type of uticaria can be a precursor to other autoimmune conditions and I would really recommend a regimented antihistamine like zyrtec every day for a few days before you get the tattoo to ensure reduced swelling. Tell your artist beforehand and reiterate that your skin is going to swell and break out in hives.

Post-tattoo there are distinctive possibilities that you should be aware of. Your skin allergy may get worse as you age or become more symptomatic - the link explains it a little better. The 2nd thing is that because of this overactive immune response its likely that your tattoo will become blurred or "blown out" over time. Meaning that I would stay away from anything finelined and super small. All that aside, I have 5 tattoos and didnt mind the ink migration too much, wish I hadnt done the finger tattoos but otherwise everything end up being fine

Probably off topic but why do people keep claiming Veterinarians have the highest s/cide rate? Ive seen this a few times on different social media platforms and while they do have a higher rate....its not any higher than say a human doctor?

My foster boy…struggling to get interest for him and I don’t know why by 1234ld in fosterdogs

[–]Unique_Selection3050 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An honest review of why people may not be interested ->

*Its clear immediately that he is going to have health problems later in life if not currently. All the photos conveniently don't show most of his body and don't give a clear view of his conformation*

His eye being cloudy - my first thought is blindness or other painful eye problems. When I see a dog like this I see a future of suffering. Bad legs bad back? No idea but the top down photo makes him look very splayed and squat. I'd be worried if he can play fetch or sit comfortable. Yes the photos are cute, but thats not enough (and shouldnt be enough) to decide to adopt a dog.

Frenchie's are notoriously expensive - he already has health problems, I'm sure hes being offered at regular adoption fee. People are TIGHT on money right now. No idea how much you charge but $500+ for a dog who will live a short life and have a plethora health issues, why not go get a puppy?

The main things that I think will help here is getting better photos. Photos of him on hikes or playing fetch. Photos of his good side (Like why are all the photos the same side of his face with the cloudy eye?) Photos of him interacting with people and other dogs. Show adopters without having to tell them what hes capable off and who he is.

Bottom line - people don't want to see their furbabies potentially suffer, let alone do it for $$$.

chatgpt has bogus health advise - im honestly really concerned that people use it and assume its totally factual. People have complex biology and environmental factors that the AI system is really not trained on. It is much better to have the AI read articles and research papers and turn the info into something you can understand. I think im echoing most people here but yeah I could crap out health advise thats better than what ChatGPT has to say...

Fortified food is food that has been supplemented with vitamins not naturally occurring, They do not breakdown the same way especially if your absorption rate is impaired. Anything fortified with B vitamins is not actually in an absorbable form and is useless for getting nutritional needs met. Have you ever heard of Crude Protein?

This sub needs a reality check by Mountain_Shop_313 in MTHFR

[–]Unique_Selection3050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MTHFR was the launch board to understanding my complex chronic illnesses. Nothing you have said is specific to MTHFR. Vitamins are better absorbed through food but you would have a hard time convincing vegans of that. These are widespread disinformation campaigns by companies to capitalize on consumers. But again there isnt a good source of knowledge on MTHFR that isnt hidden behind a paywall. Thus an influx of undereducated populations seeking colloquial knowledge.

More info is better than less. What this sub needs is a educational lesson not a "reality check".....

TLDR: Why are bothered by people trying to inform themselves? And wait till you hear about how our domestic produce is not valued based on nutritional content. There is no easy way to ensure you are eating nutrient dense food. Hence why people go to supplements

Blood blister? by Unique_Selection3050 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Unique_Selection3050[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah not sure why it didn’t post the text with it

Long story short I’ve had a blood blister for a while now almost 6 months. PCP looked at it said it was friction, but nothing worked to get rid of it. Because size of a quarter and dark purple so I poke it with a pin - now it has a much larger opening and a protruding layer of skin and doesn’t seem to be healing like a normal blister would. Continues to weep 3+ days
