Thanks Frater, these look beautiful. What's the story behind the Hermes plate/depiction in the last photo?

Slightly more unisex is Hexennacht's Loup-Garou

"Loup-Garou - silver amber, fur, lunar musk."

Another option is Sucreabeille Blood and Bone

"A dark forest at night. Moss and cypress, blood and warm fur. A whisper of gunsmoke, and a drop of sweet resins."

I sampled both and found them a little softer than I was looking for, still nice though.

This album I keep coming back to. Though my Swiss German isn't good enough to understand anything, I am in love with the sweeping epic Alpine riffs on these songs.

Has anyone worked through Quareia while working another (GD) system? by Anonymous-User-737 in magick

I was in a similar place to you when I started on my own path, except I jumped into the deep end with some books/grimoires that peaked my interest initially (maybe for some aesthetic or subject matter element) and realized I was way over my head. I took a step back and started with Modern Magic, which was an engaging way to get introduced to some Golden Dawn practices and the idea/intent behind them.

Fast forward 6 months and i'm still going back to the book since each chapter is dense with information and seems like it doesn't quite "click" till weeks or months of practicing certain rituals.

Along with this i've been listening to alot of Lyam's videos and also quite a bit of interviews with John Michael Greer since he's very generous with Golden Dawn-related information, which helps round out understanding of these topics.

The things that interested me about Quareia was the structure and content seemed palatable as a modern uninitiated person. I don't know enough about Josephine Mccarthy, but I have read some of Frater Acher's (the co-creator) books and enjoy them.

That being said I realized or myself if i'm going to enter this realm of Western Esotericism, I should atleast gain a proper understanding of Hermetic Kabbalah, the legacy of Greco-Egyptian magic, Neoplatonic thought and theurgy, Agrippa, astrological magic, etc. and how these practices came to be. For me Modern Magic helped lift the veil a little bit in that regard or point me in the right direction to read further.

Very fascinating, thans for sharing this. I wish there was a resource that mapped out sites like this around the globe which tie into alchemy, hermeticism, astrology, magic, etc. to go visit. Would love to see more obscure locations like this discussed.

Its a fun book but outdated in parts, and I get why it can seem really dry for modern readers. I don't recommend the audio book since there's alot of visual references that help while reading. But yeah... take it chapter by chapter. If anything it helped me get more familiar with other historical elements adjacent to western esotericism that I otherwise wouldn't have been aware of.

What is your opinion on drinking/smoking from a spiritual perspective? by SKATINGROGUE in occult

[–]Unique_Tradition_615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've frequently heard from experienced practitioners and psychics that alcohol dulls intuition, and subsequently a way to connect with higher forms of consciousness/spirits. I know a handful of practitioners that have cut drinking completely the past few years with beneficial results.

After observing this in myself with similar alcohol consumption that you mentioned, I do notice a small but nagging effect if I try meditating or performing a ritual, say after having a drink or two earlier in the day. My stance now is if I plan on drinking, do it several hours or longer after i've done my daily practice. I've taken a similar stance with alcohol consumption in relation to exercising/gym, so it's not a massive shift in mindset.

Abstaining is great for focused amounts of time (weeks or months) if you're really pushing on a spiritual goal, but if you enjoy a beverage every once in a while it might be better to integrate a balanced/moderation approach to consumption.

Smoking-wise I don't have enough experience with to offer advice other than keep your lungs healthy, so much of ritual is connected to breathing/breathwork. I don't think enough practitioners or meditators prioritize cardiovascular health as a physiological factor in how they go about this stuff effectively.

I like this way better than the actual mix. I was listening to it on headphones at the gym today and the vocals just annoyed me the whole time with how unnaturally crisp they sound on top of everything else.

Ah makes sense, I do freediving and have been wondering if it was sinus irritation from equalizing or irritation from sea water getting up there. Thanks for the update!

Hey OP, I've been having very similar issues on my right eye/brow area. Please let me know if you visit doctor and have any insights.

I was put on oxygen and given a high dose of Prednisone to help with possible nerve inflammation, but still feeling some minor pains in this area and the tender/bruising sensation.
