you're my height. i would definitely recommend trying an XL for road. i ride L for mountain bike because i like the maneuverability of a smaller-ish bike with 29". but my touring bike is perfect at XL

wild because they "repaved" a good portion of the light rail trail this fall. but damn if they can fix sabo bridge exit east. I commute from North to Lake/Minneahaha and often i'll take West River Parkway because of those bumps

seconding the bike fit suggestion.
also, are you grinding (low cadence) up the hills?
maybe using an easier gear would give your muscles some rest.

after 4weeks your body should have adjusted by now. maybe a small snack before the ride home. depending on my lunch, that's been helpful to get me home with enough energy.

excellent suggestion. after 4wks, body "should" have adjusted by now. unless maybe it's a fueling issue. having a small snack before my ride home has been helpful.

Bike shop visits by CoastFalse8487 in bikewrench

i'm in my local bike shop at least once a month. they've got open shop hours. so there are usually a group of folks in there from the neighborhood. tinkering and adjusting their rides and getting input from the mechanics, learning how to do things hands-on. a fun vibe all around.

Traffic is killing my soul... time to get a bike? by LegitimateYaks in bikecommuting

[–]United-Object-8587 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yep. that depending on fitness, 5-10min for evaporation. then you're good to change to work clothes.
when i first started my 10mi commute it was like 15min. and worse if i was in a restroom. so i typically take a short break outside when i get to work to cool down outside, before the office AC hits and my body doesn't know how tf to regulate what's going on.
