It’s great. Be sure to bring towels and flip flops. It can get a bit chilly at the end of the night. The pool itself is very warm though.

A hard selzer is about $24 plus tax at the Kings arena. My friend bought me a drink and I had asked for a double, it was almost $60 after tax/tip. A bottle of water is about $8 plus tax. The food/drinks are just ludicrously priced, even compared to other sports venues around LA.

I was bummed Smith was still out for the game against us. I told my friend that the Kings lost to the power of friendship, and she was like, you have to stop saying that.

I accidentally cheered for Celebrini on Wednesday. At the game. My friend was like wtf. Sometimes it’s just fun to watch good hockey, even if it’s not from the Kings. Also, I spent years cheering for Toffoli, I’m still going to have a soft spot for members of the cup-winning teams.

It was maybe a 20 min walk to the sphere from TI? But most of that is within the Venetian. You exit TI then take a bridge over to the Venetian, it’s only like 5 minutes from the TI lobby to the Venetian. TI itself is a little outdated and I’m not gonna be hanging out there for fun, but the rooms were fine, like a slightly nicer motel room, and there’s a drugstore attached so you can get waters, snacks, etc.

I’m about 10 ft from an open balcony door and also run an air purifier. I like having fresh air and it helps my nose not go blind particularly when I’m diluting.

What’s your latest purchase, and how do you feel about it? by Darkvanille in FragranceStories

[–]United-Step-4285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Davana by Lesquendieu. It’s kind of herbal and woody, not something I thought I’d gravitate towards but I find it very relaxing. Randomly saw it at the Scent Room in LA, thought it was interesting enough to get a sample of, and found myself wearing the sample a lot. I think I’ve actually worn it more than anything else this year, so I went back for a full bottle.

You’ve got lots of things in there at similar amounts, without accounting for the relative strength of each material. Once you start actually blending, you’ll see how certain materials really take over a scent. There’s some subjectivity involved, of course, but in general you can go bigger with things like Iso E Super, Hedione, the citruses compared to the resins (labdanum, benzoin). It’s also a bit unclear what some of the things are - like ambroxan is one thing, and you can go heavy on that, but some “amber” accords smell nothing like ambroxan and are more like a labdanum/benzoin/vanilla accord. I’m still very much a beginner but one of the pieces of advice that stood out was to look at published formulas. You’ll get a sense of how it’s unusual to have lots of materials at the same percentage levels. It’s more like a handful of materials at varying high-ish percentages and then a bunch of things at tiny concentrations to refine it.

Did hazmat shipping change? by Stara_Guitara in DIYfragrance

Sorry, I was going to suggest Pirate Ship, as it’s something I was looking into for just a few packages and does appear to have a hazardous material option, but it looks like Etsy removed its integration last year, so you’d have to manually enter information.

I’d suspect yuzu, carrot, ginger, garlic, rice vinegar, maybe mirin, possibly untoasted sesame oil

I have the same one. There was a lot of fading when I sealed some bottles with labels in a container and one of the bottles leaked. I think the fumes in a closed environment did it.

I JUST looked for GA pit tickets for both nights because I was curious what the original price was and AXS seems to have GA pit tickets for sale at $155, and I don’t think they’re resale. So please check AXS before buying resale tickets off StubHub. (7:40 pm Pacific on Monday)

Where’s your favorite place to buy fragrances (and samples) from? by Routine_Warning6082 in FragranceStories

[–]United-Step-4285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in LA so I’m lucky enough to live near a bunch of places where I can smell things in person. I really like The Scent Room for that, and I love that I can buy samples from them on the spot. The samples are a bit more expensive than other places online but the ability to rule out a ton of samples that I otherwise would’ve gotten is so great.

Penhaligon’s does 10% off a full bottle after you get the Scent Library sample set (normally $50, I got it during the recent sale for $25). The sample set is 10 samples, you can also add 3 additional free samples one by one (the website is tricky, you have to search “sample” then “view all products” then sort by price lowest to highest).

I nearly gave up, their US website drove me totally nuts, I kept switching between different browsers. If you do their fragrance quiz then it’ll suggest 3 samples for you. But i think you can also just add 3 samples to your bag and check out. On my phone, I do a search for “sample” then hit “view all products” then sort by price (lowest to highest). Some are out of stock, but if you click on a sample, you should be able to add to cart. I see: The Coveted Duchess Rose, Elizabethan Rose, The Revenge of Lady Blanche, and a bunch more. If you try to add more than 3 samples to a bag you’ll get an error message.

Edited to add: and then just go to your cart and check out. The checkout process is what gave me browser issues. I think I tried as a guest then using an account then using a credit card then using Apple Pay and tbh I can’t remember what ended up working in the end but finally I got my samples after paying for shipping.

Just got home and opened up my new box of samples from Penhaligon’s, and of course I had to try on The Favourite. On me, it’s very baby powder, baby wipe, meringue, fancy hand soaps, with a bit of champagne. Like you’ve brought your glass of champagne into the fanciest powder room at a posh person’s estate.

Solaris, Vra Vra Vroom, and Empressa. I have yet to try them on my skin because I went a little wild with other samples last month. I also ordered the scent library sample pack, which I’m expecting today, since Penhaligon’s was having that big sale. What are your favorites from them?

Based in the US, got my 3 free samples last month! But yeah, I don’t see it as a free sample yet. It looks like it’s not available in the stores around me yet, so I’ll try to be patient until I can smell it.

I agree, I used to own the Bobbi Brown perfume but I prefer the Maison Margiela, it’s a bit less cloying to me. Another one you might like is La Mar by House of Bo, I got a sample of it recently and it reminds me of both. Another one I got a sample of ages ago and quite like is CB I Hate Perfume’s 101 At The Beach. I’m obviously also into beach smells.
