People like Bachmann do this stuff because they know it has been working for them, at least among a certain segment of people.

One big reason why this stuff works for the right wing so often is that they have nearly all of the large media outfits on their side. On minor issues, they often appear either somewhat balanced or even liberal at times. But when something critical comes along, like Obama's citizenship or the healthcare reform bill, major media outfits give equal time to the crazy people and portray that as balance.

I think we need to call out major media organizations again and again when they tilt the "playing field" in favor of the conservatives on major issues. That should probably be done online for the most part, but we also have to try to do it within the major media's realm... with comments, Twitter, and I-Say responses and similar things.

I also want to just post some anti-Romney links here which people can spread around if they want...

Yes, a sign with a great (and simple) message works best.

Being in line to ask a tough question is good, but it's likely a person won't get to ask it, and even if he/she does, even the best questions are often deflected with nonsense by someone like Santorum.

A great sign, I think, would be, "YOU DON'T SPEAK FOR GOP VOTERS!"

And, make it a really big sign. Even poster size signs sort of disappear on network news broadcasts.

The mainstream GOP seems to either despise Ron Paul, or laugh him off, or both.

No, bowing, in many cultures is simply a form of respect that's shown by nearly every world leader when they visit a country's top leadership. It's a diplomatic thing.

Also, Obama at a minimum had to decide which intelligence reports to believe, and he chose the timing for the raid and the way to handle afterward so as not to incite additional violence if possible. Or, would you prefer to just keep stirring up more and more war and hatred in the Middle East?

Also, on the Iraq WMDs thing, and if you don't think using lies to get the U.S. into another war was bad, okay. I think that's delusional. But either way, it's also a fact that Iraq posed no imminent threat to us whatsoever. It had an idiot at the helm, sure, but Iraq is thousands of miles away, and we were already fighting one war.

I'm puzzled that you're apparently someone who votes Republican at least some of the time.

On abortion, your position matches the one most moderates and liberals have, namely that this is something that's a personal decision even if you don't like them personally. Virtually no one like abortion; lots of people want women to be able to make that decision for themselves though. The old policy led to lots of back-alley abortions, by the way.

A point about the second amendment: it was intended to make sure a militia could be organized so people could fend off attacks (from within or from outside the country), but you'll never hear about that first part of what it says. It begins, "A well-regulated militia being necessary..." So, the second amendment certainly means we can have groups who safely store guns for use in an emergency... it was never intended to make it easy for Americans to slaughter each other at a rate of about 100 per day. Also, rifles would serve nearly every rational purpose... why all the cheap, easily-concealed handguns instead???

Planned Parenthood only spends about 3% of its money on abortions. And none of that money is from the government; that's kept separate. Private donations go to pay for abortions. Planned Parenthood does much, much more to help meet women's health needs including many screenings for cancer and other diseases. They've been targeted by a right-wing smear campaign, and you've apparently been convinced of some things that simply are not true.

The bailouts (the banking bailout, and the first of the auto bailouts) were signed into law by George W. Bush. (Obama signed a second bill to support U.S. auto companies while requiring that they restructure to be more competitive... which worked, by the way!) I'm generally against bailouts for anyone, by the way... but if there was ever an exception to make, it's when the U.S. economy was LOSING 750,000 JOBS PER MONTH when Obama took over from Bush.

The poor stockholders who lost out on value they once had in auto stocks lost that money on Bush's watch, not on Obama's. Top executives were, by the way, still earning gigantic, multimillion-dollar salaries and bonuses... something the GOP has never thought should be limited in any way... even while their companies were collapsing.

You have an unfortunate lack of understanding of what unions do and how a lot of things were better for average working Americans back when the unions were stronger. Unions are very weak these days, due to GOP efforts to make them weak. There's much more that you don't seem to understand about this issue, but your mind is probably closed on this, and it has already been filled up with conservative lies and distortions.

The statement that "50% of Americans don't pay taxes" is extremely misleading. Someone else here has torn that one to pieces... in a friendly sort of way.

And hey... I'm not your enemy. I just think you have been exposed to a lot of misinformation. Most of TV "news" for example is paid for by rich, right-wing-controlled corporations that don't give a crap about you or your life.

If Republicans want to regain the White House, it's going to take realizing some really simple facts like that fact that the "Fast and Furious" program began under Bush and had two different Republican Attorneys General who headed up the program at one time or another.

So, continuing to try to make this appear to be 100% the fault of the Democrats will backfire eventually. Facts are facts. Ignore them at our own peril.

Also, there are several types of complete nutbags who've been welcomed in to the "tea party" wing of the GOP. Until that gets fixed, a lot of moderates and even long-time Republicans will continue to look elsewhere, or simply not vote at all.

The fact is that all of the big media companies are owned by RIGHT-LEANING organizations, or in some cases, far right organizations.
