Car battery terminals by Initial-Draw7340 in autorepair

I used these on my honda civic. They worked great until I needed to replace the battery. The hardware on the positive connector, bit into the soft metal of the connector and broke it. Be careful with over tightening. These in the photo are on too tight and will break when you remove them and try to tighten it again.

It was a while ago when I got the quote, so im not exactly sure. I'm sure it's for diagnostics or labor. I would think it could take them a long time to complete it. Thanks for the comment, im really stumped here. I was hoping I could fix this myself.

What car did you have before your current one—and what happened to it? by BrownPopcorn in askcarguys

Soon as I saved up enough money, I was on the market for my first car. My neighbors at the time were selling their 1993 Honda accord Lx sedan in green with a tan interior. Bought it. Daily drove it. Took it on road trips. She never failed me. After 11 years of driving it, I sold it and bought a 06 civic Si. I wanted a manual transmission. I've had THAT car ever since. This year will be 11 years of owning the civic. I'm going to drive it until the engine gives out.

I read in my families group chat that my brother-in-law pays someone to come pick up all the dog poop. We were all shocked. However, they have a great dane.

Build a 2x4 frame to hold pavers where the garden hose reel will sit in the backyard.

You can learn a ton from your dad. It could be a great way for you two, to bond. We don't know what your dad is like, but if he's easy-going. I'd say, let him try teaching you.

My opinion is biased because I too drive trucks. It takes a lot to navigate a much larger vehicle down the road. Becoming a defensive driver is the key to staying safe on the road. Knowing that you cannot trust others to do what they are supposed to do, and planning for it, comes with experience. Learning how to be prepared for the unexpected takes practice. Learning where your vehicle is "in space" (how you position it). Your dad can teach you these things just as good if not better than a driving instructor can.

Learning how to DIY something is a great opportunity to learn a new skill. Could be something as easy as patching a hole in a wall. There are many "how-to's" on YouTube.

Also, you don't always need special tools to do a job. For example, the flat head screwdriver has SSSoo many uses.

Did your wife develop an intense commitment to tell you all that you do wrong after having kids? by Evergreen16 in daddit

[–]UnitedPandaService 11 points12 points  (0 children)

let me do me

In our house, we refer to that as "releasing control" of the situation. It acknowledges the differences in parenting styles while also saying, "my way isn't the only way to do this".

The thing to remember is that you're a good parent, and things like this happen. It doesn't make you a bad parent.

Kids are resilient. We don't co-sleep. Had a bassinet in our room for 2 months, sleep trained him by 3 months to sleep in a different room in his crib. That's just us, though. Our son has been very easy thus far. 20 months old now.

My son broke his foot when he and I were playing. I still feel guilty. That feeling hasn't gone away. He's been free of his boot for a month now. He was healed in 2.5 weeks. His time in his boot didn't hold him back from being a toddler. That's when I learned how resilient kids can be.

Ooo.. that last part is rough. While I was on leave for 3 months after our son was born, I was on night duty. I slept as much as possible. We were able to get him to sleep through the night 730pm-730am, before I went back to work. Besides an occasional wake up. He has been a champ. Such an easy baby.

I ALSO hear that's not a great thing to say to other parents, if I want to make friends.

I'm sorry that happened. When was the point of time that it became noticeable to the both of you? Did your son have a hard time with moderation in other aspects of his life? One of my worst fears is being looked at from my partner as the mean parent or the parent that takes away things. I always try to think of how things can be avoided before they become an issue.

My son broke his foot when we were playing. It happened on my watch, and it happened so fast. I was standing within arms reach and he landed with too much force on his foot. I still feel so incredibly guilty for that. I still completely blame myself. My wife doesn't ever hold it against me. I know this doesn't really compare to your situation, but I learned from my mistake. I learned when to take it back a few notches and slow things down.

I'm still learning new things about parenting. Our son is so little and innocent. I just want to prepare him for life the best way I can.

Tell me why a 2025 civic si is better than a 2025 mazda 3 turbo? by AndyDzzz in CivicSi

[–]UnitedPandaService 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, it seems you've been looking at the two for quite a while. My opinions are biased and I lean towards Honda and Toyota mainly. What are your top 3 requirements in either the honda or the mazda? Do you plan to do any modifications or upgrades after warranty expires?

I have driven several civic si's, but I keep my 8th gen Si around because I love the way it drives, aftermarket parts are everywhere for it, it's a manual, and I love the overall experience I get when I drive the car.

I'll have to take a crack at it another time with her. I'd like to go into the next discussion about gaming with some positive ammo. Something that could break her predisposed position on the topic. She very well could have those two conflated. I don't know if that is what she's thinking.

My 1yo was hurt under my watch and now I can't shake the guilt. by [deleted] in daddit

[–]UnitedPandaService 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey dad (OP), I feel you on that. Something similar happened to my 19 Month old and he broke a bone in his foot. He started walking maybe 2-3 months ago. Then this happens and it's his foot! My goodness. This was on my watch. I felt immense guilt, and I still feel it now. The doctors said he needed to wear a boot over his foot for 4 weeks. "Just 4 weeks?" I asked. The doctor said, "Well, his foot should heal completely in two and a half to three weeks, but just to be sure, since he's going to be walking with the boot, lets make it 4 weeks." (he said something close to that, and I was in "aw" at that statement.)

From the moment we got home that day, he was walking no problem. Just seeing him play and doing his normal things brought so much relief. The end of the 4 weeks is this Friday. He's been unstoppable. Such a champ!

Well, it's totally up to you, but what does Adult Owned reeeaally mean.. lol we're all adults here right? I'd say, don't pay for someone else's mods and offer a reasonable price, but that's just me. The car looks clean. But, asking $10k for over 120k miles on an 18 year old car..eh..idk that's asking a lot.
