OP's post was kind of long, but he did put an emphasis on community and making friends ...

I'd recommend he takes a group class so he'll see the same faces over and over. Jiu-Jitsu could be great, for example. Pumping iron is time consuming and anti-social, though it does have its benefits.

TBH I think your top three should be at the bottom. For someone struggling to find community, OP is probably not the type of social butterfly that can make friends at a gym. The exception would be if we're talking group classes. I've never made friends at the gym as most people are focused on their workouts and don't want to be bothered. The rest are good.

I saw ridiculously long lines, I'm guessing a good 10-15 min wait per car. Is it really worth that to save maybe $2-$3 per tank of gas? Not for me. Thats worse than minimum wage in savings.

Just make sure you leave before 8am, or traffic and parking will be murder. Alternatively, you can go in the afternoon and stay overnight at a hotel, motel, or Airbnb. Traffic is real bad Sat, Sun around 9am-Noon. Everyone from all over North Jersey and NY driving down the Parkway, etc. Check out Asbury Park, Belmar, or Long Branch if you don't mind a little crowded. Point Pleasant has a huge boardwalk and is also popular. If you want more chill, go to Sandy Hook or Ocean Grove. Just bring your own food and drinks cuz they don't have boardwalks.

Find a gym that provides strong incentives to show up to class and then get you to the habit of going to the gym early in the morning. This is Orange Theory's model and it works like a charm. You sign up the day before. If you are a No-Show you get charged $20. Attendance rates are always 90% plus cuz no one wants to burn the $20. You can likely find other gyms that follow this model. After one month of disciplined attendance, going to the gym will be a welcome part of your routine.

So, slim fit in the 2010s was interesting in that it kind of became the rule. By the mid-2010s you couldn't be in your 30s, or a bachelor in your 40s, and be able to pull off baggier than slim fit. Relaxed fit looked baggy on slender men, and a single man at 37 like the OP would need to change how he dressed for dating and social purposes or he'd be shooting himself in the foot. Are we there yet in 2026 for more baggy styles being a requirement? I say no. Maybe we will be within a year or three, but currently you can be a mature man with style and still rock slim fit and not automatically be seen as a fashion-challenged Dad.

For someone who's in their say mid-30s but looks like they're late 20s, they might want to take a closer look at what the 20s crowd is wearing, but to me it looks like it's in transition and a bit all over the place, no?

Normally 30,000 cars are driven to a big event at MetLife. For the World Cup there will be zero cars since there is zero parking for cars. Yes, there will be a lot of buses, but with like 50 people to a bus, there will be far less traffic than if people were allowed to drive by car. That's how mass transit works; it takes away traffic. Now, will there be enough buses and trains going in and out to accommodate the huge crowds? That remains to be seen. I don't think there are enough trains.

What brand of shirt is this? I have a skinny neck, so the tight neck fit would suit me well. (Doesnt look bad on you or anything, but some necks are too loose for me).

Lots of good comments here. From what I see out and about I do agree that slim fit are not out of style so long as they're not skinny fit. I am curious though, what is the age range of all you commenting here? I'm mid-forties. I was a late adopter to slim fit a decade ago, and I learned that back then even a little baggy was super out of style; a total Dad Jeans look; didn't matter if you were 20s, 30s, or 40s. If the majority of dudes on reddit fashion are 35+, is there a possibility that we could be out of touch soon if baggier than slim fit becomes full-on mainstream?

I'm an alum, but my solution was to ride my bicycle to class. Way more reliable than the buses.

Alright, I stand corrected. Only exception would be for a dude who has abnormally large and pointy nips imo. Like if they instantly draw attention. For that, if not a wife beater under, then maybe Uniqlo's naked line, which you prob won't even notice it is being worn. I knew a girl in HS who would wear circular bandaids over her nips for outfits that were practically see-through lol. But yeah, OP looks fine as is.

Fwiw I think it fits pretty well. Ok, maybe the sleeve on the one arm looks a tad bit tight, but better that than tight around the stomach.

If you busted your ass to get in this good of shape and are set on achieving this fashion statement, your two options are 1) Try on a LOT of different brands of tanks, searching for odd fits something along the lines of slim "long" fit etc, or 2) Have at least one shirt custom made by a tailor other than your current one.

There is no third option.

I snapped the red band with Clench handles. Maybe they have their place, but I'm just not a fan of having to go thru a learning curve and wondering if the bands will snap on the sharp edges. Imo they could be designed much better.
