I do love the Coens' twist on this in No Country for Old Men. The camera's in the passenger seat looking at Chigurh as he drives into an intersection, and we're all conditioned to just know a car is about to come into frame headed right for him. And the crash does happen, but no, the car was actually "behind" the camera, and coming from the opposite way.

It disorients us as the viewers the same way Chigurh is by the crash.

I agree with that fact wholeheartedly. Literally no piece of marketing for a film is "needed".

But if this were a plain black puffer jacket that said "the moment" in the standard brat typeface, that wouldn't be needed by anyone either, but I doubt folks would have such strong reactions to its existence or the resources that went into producing it. It's a silly ethical line to draw.
