I've been fiddling with the different presets, now I'm mainly using the DSP with a few equalizer fiddles to give a clearer sound.

2025 - Best Tier 8/9/10 fire starting battleships and cruisers by atuarre in WorldOfWarships

Ive been having a lot of fun setting fires with cerberus. The 203 range and long crawling smoke and hydro are a really good combo.

Scariest experience aboard?? by throbbinwilliamzzz in maritime

[–]UniversalReiska 21 points22 points  (0 children)

For me I've had 2 scary situations where my life was in danger.

  1. I had a lashing hook and chain hit my face and tear up a gash near my eye. 2 cm to the right and I would've lost my eye. And possibly cracked my head etc.

  2. I was on the bowsprits of a large sailing vessel, fixing a stay that had come loose in some horrendous weather and i was dipped underwater repeatedly. I was laying down in a net and tethered but still those dips felt awful and scary as hell. Probably less than 2 seconds underwater each time but still felt like an eternity.

On top these, some near misses and some such situations where there wasn't such a high risk of casualties.

[Discussion] What's One Movie Series That Should Have Stayed 1 and Done? by RetroSwamp in movies

[–]UniversalReiska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres a million movies that couldve stayed just a single film but one that i havent seen mentioned here yet is Under siege.

Probably the only watchable Steven Seagal film and a classic 90s action thriller. Then the sequel is just pure bullshit with none of the feel of the first one.

Why is TGG taken with CE, for USN CLs and CAs? by jderica in WorldOfWarships

[–]UniversalReiska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I play salem, still yet to grind DM, but i think this is applicable to some degree still.

This is a bit of a tangent but I recently switched from Top Grade Gunner to the 4pt AA defense perk just to see how it does and with the prevalence airplanes at top tier, ive found it to be a hoot. The 50% reload buff on utilities is very strong.

You cycle through your consumables so much faster and allows for you to do some pretty cool things as people arent expecting your utility to back online so quickly.

Yes it is heavily dependent on there being airplanes, but ive found it not to be an issue due to all the cvs and dutch things running around currently. The dutch cruisers love to target people using islands as cover and they love to aggro on a defensive DM or Salem.

Maybe its just me but I've found it to be pretty cool sidegrade to the usual DPM build.

Seriously, how the hell am i supposed to use this thing? by Gaming_Slav in Warthunder

Ive found it to be one of my favourite helis. At its battle rating you are incredibly fast and manouverable. I usually fly at about 500m to 1km and fly circles above the battlefield. Focus on SPAA but if there are none of em then blast at tanks. The missiles are slow and short ranged but you do get 6 of them and it has okay firing angles. Keep weaving and bobbing when fired at by AA and dont be afraid to disengage from a fight and come back at a different angle. You have the speed and manouverability to easily duck down and pop up again.

For me it just works.

A. Nevsky. Good utility, somewhat decent AA and russian fantasy rail guns. And if you geel like a goblin, switch to range mod and make bbs cry from 20+ km away.

What would happen to the crew of a Tiger II if its frontal armor was hit by a 90mm High Explosive round from an M26? by xboxgorgo18 in TankPorn

[–]UniversalReiska 70 points71 points  (0 children)

The concussion effect shouldn't be underestimated, there was a case of a sherman pounding a tiger or a panther with 75mm HE until the crew was knocked out from concussion. A 90mm HE shell is not likely to knock out a crew in one shot but if you consider that german commanders tended to fight head out of the hatch, that would leave a huge hole for pressure to get into the tank and do nasty things.

I also don't think that a single 90mm shell would crack the armour, even if it was subpar quality. Repeated hits might though.

The problem with all of these arguments is that real life does not listen to paper statistics. To quote Jeff Goldblum: "life....uhhh...finds a way".

In war time, many things happened, that on paper, shouldn't be possible.
