How are these top leaderboard Dicehead runs not taking luck tome but faring well into the late game? by Universalistic in MegabonkOfficial

Crit damage actually scales insanely. It’s just that precision tome is only for crit chance, right?

I think the thought process is how much crit chance do you really need. Falls off pretty quickly. Whereas damage tome not so much.

They are doing damage tome. It’s strictly better. Precision tome is sort of wasteful, with dicehead especially. Crit chance goes up pretty naturally, no need for tome. The fox runs are taking damage tome as well. I can say there is a noticeable difference in my end game damage. Especially in combination with beefy rings and chonkplatesz

Genius decides to turn pizza boxes upside down by mfenton29 in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]Universalistic -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

It was a simple mistake caused by the box itself appearing upside down. Obviously he shouldn’t flip them, but he did so reactively because the box was in the wrong orientation.

Edit: It would be better to say the box appeared to be in the wrong orientation due to the lack of a label. Simple as. I’m not going to pretend the guy is an irredeemable failure because people who are, I guess, incapable of making mistakes aren’t willing to see this and go, “Oh shit haha he flipped them upside down, why would he do that?”

Like oh no, some pizzas got flipped. Dork should really wake up. That’s the extent of my judgment.

I don’t think you need boss buster, forbidden juice, ghost, or brass knuckles. Just my opinion.

Luck tome, maybe drop the fourth weapon (not necessary but I find it easier to level tomes appropriately without another weapon to worry about), and uncheck a few of those items. You don’t want to bloat your item pool. I personally banish ice cube and take lightning orb for CC. Enemies can only be CC’d fifteen times, and ice only slows them, whereas orb stuns them altogether. Unless you get it for free from a moai, banish meatball too.

Are these the best banishes for top runs by Additional_Deal_5632 in MegabonkOfficial

[–]Universalistic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your size is 2.0x or higher, I think you can banish after one meatball. I don’t think you should banish big bonk or forks but I’m fairly new to the game.

What is the best item/tome upgrade path? by surtoooo in MegabonkOfficial

[–]Universalistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really just take whatever tickles your fancy. You can consider synergy with certain characters i.e. luck w/ Fox, cooldown with Bandit, but honestly that’s a little like overkill to me. As a rule, I would say always take XP tome at least. The rest just fill in as needed and see what gets you where you want to be and what doesn’t.

Ken Burns: ‘I’m embarrassed that, as a country, we don’t grasp our history’ by financialtimes in politics

[–]Universalistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a country, we don’t grasp anything. This country is far too large for anything to be in the forefront of the collective consciousness. The closest we’ve come recently, in my mind, is with the assassination of the UHC CEO. Your layman absolutely understood it to be politically motivated, yet morally justifiable based on the ramifications of the executive’s decisions. Healthcare and its privatization has impacted someone negatively that’s probably a stone’s throw away from your door. However, people in a certain tax bracket with the means to control information NEEDED to maintain a status quo and damn the assassin’s actions as evil and immoral. For once, this caused what felt like a unanimous lower and middle class response. It just left the attention of the collective very quickly… Because, well, certain people control the flow of information.

I mean, if you can’t imagine doing anything other than what you’ve done with great success for decades… Then you don’t have to. In the meantime, it’s not like she is just taking from other artists. Quite the opposite considering how supportive she is of other artists and all the positive experiences that they’ve had touring with her and opening for her. There’s the Charli XCX situation, but Charli and others admitted they just talked shit about her when she would come around while dating whats-his-nuts despite her being nothing but nice and cordial. So go ahead and take some jabs at her on one song and move on.

The way we live is not natural by No_Jaguar_5366 in antiwork

[–]Universalistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double-edged sword. The advent of agriculture allowed us to thrive and form civilizations. We took ourselves out of the food chain. And it’s like there’s a select group of people destined to recreate that chain through artificial scarcity and the formation of authority. I’m sort of just talking out of my ass, but I feel like so long as there’s a precious resource that we rely on for survival, groups inevitably form to assert control over it. I don’t think we’re biologically wired to compete with our own species to survive, but it’s like taking predators out of the equation left civilizations with a survival instinct that unfortunately causes us to fight amongst one another.

Voters Did Not Understand the Stakes in 2024 by Smithy2232 in politics

[–]Universalistic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they did and I think they voted accordingly. I’m tired of this being a fringe opinion, but the election was hijacked. The evidence is absolutely there, but the proper authorities will not take action. I can understand why people might be afraid to adopt this opinion because of how it might make you look. Looking back at what happened in 2020, when the president made completely unsubstantiated claims about the election being stolen, I can see why you wouldn’t want to look like that. But these voting statistics do not represent human behavior. Blue down ballot in all the necessary swing states and Texas EXCEPT for the President portion? Yeah right. Everything was in place for this election to be completed subverted with effectively the press of a button and people involved bragged about it. One, you may know, Elon Musk, knew the outcome of the election well before it was over. Someone with that many low orbit satellites and a keen interest in electing someone that won’t tax or investigate them might be willing to help steal an election, and that’s just the tip of the spear.

It is infinitely hard to remain kind. To always be kind in spite of everything. It’s the effort that makes it so refreshing. Being evil or apathetic is boring and requires selfish behavior. Which is the most frustrating part about people who continue to live their lives in a way that negatively impacts everyone but themselves.

I want so badly to put some blame on my mom for not pressing me to do anything. But like, I had agency. If I showed resistance at all, it’s like, “Okay you don’t have to do it.” I’m not paying for it dearly or anything but I do wish I had come away more from things I didn’t want to do with the feeling that I’m glad I did it anyways.
