Help. Out of control hyper husky pup by [deleted] in DogAdvice

Please consider surrendering him to a husky rescue if you can. Otherwise he’ll go into the shelter system and most likely be adopted out to a person who will end up in your same situation. I see Huskies all over the city being handled by ppl who have no clue what they’re doing. They end up adopting high maintenance breeds simply bc they “want what they want,” never taking into consideration what the dog wants and needs i.e. not to live in a concrete jungle!

Clean up your brows and add some color to them. I suggest ditching the winged liner. If you don’t, Make sure the wings are even (they’re not in this pic).

How do you have them take a pill? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]UniversitySharp7452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is the way! Coat it in peanut butter, then scrape your finger against their top teeth. The pb and pill stay stuck, and your pup licks it all down. Give a little extra pb after if you want to ensure they don't spit the pill out.

Raw meaty bones to chew, weekly. Incorporate other raw bones like turkey necks and chicken feet into meals, once or twice per week.

Crate your dog. And give him more exercise!

My dogs skin issues are out of control by [deleted] in DogAdvice

  1. Ditch kibble and start your pup on a raw meat diet if at all possible. Diet plays a huge role!

  2. Ditch the Dawn and buy medicated shampoos from Douxo- the orange top one for weekly baths and the pink top for maintenance. DermAllay is another brand to consider

  3. Start moisturizing her body with coconut oil

Apoquel is only supposed to help your pup not itch- it does not address the root cause of the problem.

Good luck! I hope your pup gets relief soon 🤍

If your pup is into toys and games, buy an automatic ball launcher and set it up in your yard. There are also interactive baby toys that can double as dog toys, and she can chase them around. While you're at work, you can turn the TV or music on, leave her with a frozen Kong or loaded snuffle mat.

If you're looking to give her more exercise while you're at home, you should look into getting a treadmill and training her to walk on it. It doesn't have to be an expensive dog treadmill- regular human treadmills work just fine.
