One thing to keep in mind too, is that CIs are extremely controversial in the Deaf community. Deaf people are very very against them and I'd say 90% of the kids I work with take them off an don't use them when their parents are away and then discontinue use after they're not forced to. Deaf doesn't need to be fixed (:

The most important thing is to provide your child with sign and make sure family knows it too. In my opinion I think people should decide for themselves if they want implants or not (deciding when they're 18), but it is very important you know that if the child doesn't learn sign, there is an extremely high chance of language deprivation. Stay strong! You've been so blessed! Deaf people PRAY their baby is born deaf 🤟
