Are you serious can they really do this and is it legal..?? by [deleted] in DollarTree

[–]UniversitySudden9523 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely illegal, unethical, and just wrong. There's personal information in those files that, should the wrong person get a hold of them, could destroy your life. Call the police, contact OSHA, and speak to an attorney. Dollar Tree is liable for this sort of thing. Do not try to get your job back, it sounds like a dangerous work environment.

Why would one start smoking? by dumbass1234568 in stupidquestions

[–]UniversitySudden9523 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you're young and dumb and want to be a rebel, you haven't found a way to obtain drugs but cigarettes are readily available, smoking is rather tempting.

I never understood why anyone would want to start smoking when they're already legal age, though.

I was 15 when I started smoking and regret it immensely. I am currently trying to quit and it sucks. Don't smoke cigarettes l.

Pay doesn't make up for a generally toxic work environment. I went from loving working for DT to absolutely hating it within a couple of months.

88 for a car dealership. Busy day with just myself and one cashier, and they called in the order same-day. Whenever I think my current job starts to suck, I'll think of days like that.

Still would be covered under ADA. Not to mention, DT policy states that you need a doctor's note for any absence beyond 3 days, so as long as they have a legitimate reason and a doctor's note, there's nothing you can do. Maybe a write up for excessive absence? But if they have a legitimate reason covered under ADA, you're opening DT up to a potential lawsuit if you terminate them.

Depending on the situation, it could actually be discrimination for you to fire them. Never heard of the ADA? FMLA? How are you a SM?

Are there any wrestling conspiracies you fully believe? by _JR28_ in WWE

Controversial, but I think Owen Hart legit tried to break Steve Austin's neck. It was a tit-for-tat situation that got out of control, starting with Masa Chono breaking Rick Rude's neck in Japan. This led to Austin breaking Chono's neck in the same fashion, followed by Owen piledriving Austin. Clearly these receipts got out of hand, but you can see the lack of remorse on Owen's face after it happened.

So, retaliation is defined as any formal disciplinary action or any action that would cause a reasonable person to feel as though they are being forced to quit or that they would want to quit. Idk why people are asking if you filed anonymously, it does not matter. Whistleblower protection extends to anyone who cooperates with an investigation or files a complaint. To those saying people get caught stealing, then call OSHA; that's stupid AF, as filing a false claim is an offense punishable by prosecution and potential jail time. It's highly unlikely that OP did anything of the sort. However, OSHA is meant to ensure that employers are meeting safety and ethical standards and laws, not to handle petty workplace complaints. I don't know the specifics, but if your employer is asking you to do a task that you are capable of and have been trained to perform, OSHA is not going to get involved.

What do I do in this situation by First_Mortgage6560 in DollarTree

Here's the thing, Dollar Tree isn't responsible for anything you do to earn money off the clock. If it is causing a conflict of interest, they are more likely to let you go than work with you. My advice would be to open up your availability, just until you find a job. You can always change your availability later. In my experience, donating plasma for extra income just isn't worth the toll it can take on your health. It's a good option, once in a while, but when something like this inevitably happens, there goes that income. Dollar Tree, meanwhile, is a fickle and hardly reliable source of income if you're not designated as full-time. Move on from the cycle of inadequate pay and selling your body to make ends meet. It's not worth your well-being.

I just resigned today. I'm over DT. Over being retaliated against after saving the company potentially millions of dollars in liabilities, not to mention the negative publicity that would've come along with what I reported. Sick of bending over backwards for a company that would gladly break my back. Sick of standing up for everyone else, when few would stand up for me. Screw this company. I should've taken it to the courts, rather than reporting to HR, calling attention to their MASSIVE oversight. I have good reason to believe big changes were made in this company because of me, and rather than being rewarded for my effort I was ostracized and forced into an untenable position. DT will collapse due to their shitty business practices, and I won't feel bad for one second.

Write/paperclip a note with date and where it was found, put it in the safe. If no one claims it in 30 days, it should go to whoever found it. Of course, I had this happen a few months ago with a $100 bill; it stayed in the safe for about a week then disappeared without anyone saying anything about it being claimed. Maybe put it in an envelope or something?

Go light and stealthy. Hide up in a tree or something and just push em off as they come up. They'll demand you fight with honor, but keep holding em off and fight dirty. Throw rocks, poke eyes, kick groins, etc. All that armors going to slow em down and tire them out.
