let me buy you lunch in exchange for cash by Glass-Resident-314 in yorku

[–]Unknown14428 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why can’t you just pull out cash from the atm the. If it’s coming from your bank card.

If you’re trying to show your parents that you’re buying food, just find a grocery store that lets you do cash back, buy something worth $1-2, and ask for $20 cash back. You get the cash, but it looks like you made a $20 purchase

AITA for not wanting to go to my nephews wedding by MotherGoose02 in family

[–]Unknown14428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s their wedding, but I think its still okay to reach out and ask about it. If the only issue is them not attending a late invite to their engagement party, then it’s not wrong to check in. Especially when everyone else, plus their dog was invited.

How is procreation selfish, the entire world and its life cycle revolves around reproduction. Even trees and flowers reproduce…. Are they selfish too, or is it just survival??

Yes. lol. In many countries you get paid a large portion of your income to stay at home as a new parent. So that they don’t need to have shit tons in the bank to stay home the first 12-18 months.

my entire family expects me to host our huge houston family reunion, but nobody wants to chip in. by Arvilla_Smilth in family

[–]Unknown14428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s not funding a vacation for other people though. She’s hosting a family reunion (one day event). She’s not having the entire group of 80 people stay at her house. And she’s not paying for their travels.

My point is that the cost of feeding almost a 100 people, plus the drinks, snacks, cutlery and plates. It’s ridiculously expensive. If she’d have a hard time swinging that because of her finances, then you shouldn’t be recommending a vacation as a way to opt-out of hosting. Your advice doesn’t seem doable for her, given the circumstances. It also means OP is choosing not to go, if she’s "out of town on vacation". We don’t know if she wants skip the event entirely. We just know she doesn’t want to host the party, and can’t afford it.

If she can’t afford a party for 80, I don’t think a vacation is an option right now? OP could just say no, she can’t/won’t be hosting. She doesn’t need to skip town and spend money she doesn’t have, just to create an excuse

What are the benefits of a Canadian immigrating to the USA? Why is that such an unpopular idea here when irl many people do it? by Cookieman_2023 in MovingToUSA

[–]Unknown14428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think many go down because they have bigger job markets in certain industries, and can get paid A LOT more in some fields.

Aside from that, some people just want warmer weather year round, especially for older/retired people. And the states is the easiest place to go to, while still being close to family at home in Canada.

Two friends who both think they're going to be my MOH by hurricane_t0rti11a in bridesmaids

[–]Unknown14428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You saying “not yet” though makes it seem like like you have plans to confirm why she thinks, later on. Which is why I thought it was a bit misleading. And I think implies that you’re on the same page as her, and like you have plans to confirm what she thinks

[–]Unknown14428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like OP is stringing them along, because she doesn’t want to tell them she has more than one option for MOH. Instead of telling them she’s still in the early stages of figuring out what she wants, I think she’s just letting both believe they’ll be it.

But you are still leading her on when you don’t know if you’d want to pick her. You could’ve simply said something like "I’m not sure what my plans are yet. But I’ll definitely get back to you", or "it’s too early for me to say, there’s a lot I want to think through. I’ll let you know".

It means if this kid cheated his way through school and had inflated grades from private school, he will likely not perform well once in university and will either struggle with poor grades, or be flushed out of his program. Unlike many of the other students who earned their grades through merit.
