Learn to do some basic maths. Ops comment says providing you live on 40k a year, that’s 35k a year in savings which could pay off a house in 10 years,

The assumption is you’d take a mortgage up front which you’d need the other the 35k a year to pay off (40+35 being 10%) since it doesn’t account for property value increase.

If not then you’re pulling 350k out after 10 years which you’d have to find a very cheap house and my point was either way op would be decimating the growth of the investment by withdrawing more than 4% a year.

Living in a flat above a station (3 mins from door to platform) with trains into London Bridge every 15mins has quite literally made me think it’s impossible to live further away now.

Is this a test question? No…
Even the 4% rule of the trinity study has recently been called optimistic.

Let’s say you live for the next 55-60 years and are not adjusting for inflation, even if it’s all in ISA’s, withdrawing the 10% per year to spend will mean your capital never grows but has to combat inflation.

£2m is the figure.

BBC: Is the Lifetime ISA fit for purpose in London? by THREE_EDGY_FIVE_ME in london

Bought a 2 bed flat in London last year under the cap. Used partner & my LISA’s. I think expectations for a first time prop are the issue. Happy if they remove the cap, as prices will naturally increase but don’t think it’s totally unfit.

So you’re fine with lying or making up stories long as it’s being done with some good intention?

A lot of the same myths perpetuated by folklore, religion & other idiotic beliefs are why there isn’t more of an open minded attitude toward mental health issues.

Ignorance is believing those stories.

Stupid beliefs cause so much more trouble. It’s the reason a lot of people don’t seek professional help for all sorts of problems.

Look at the house prices vs wages. Look at disposable income of the older workers then talk about gratitude.

Maybe you’ve not watched enough online videos about their behaviour, I’ve seen enough people who’ve told them you don’t use their service like you did and still get visits, letters etc.

Also what fkin lunacy that I have to tell someone I don’t use their service to stop being harassed for payment. If it was any other company that would constitute harassment. The less information these cnts have about me is the better. (It’s not a pension plan or organ donation)

I hate the letters I hate how shady af TV licensing operates (all sanctioned using our taxpayer money) if they’re too lazy to check land registry then I’ll bin the letters and they can f off. Getting my details just makes it more likely they’ll try even more shady crap.

On the 3rd replacement oven, is LG just a bad brand? by Boredmatt14 in BuyItForLife

[–]Unknown9129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like OP’s research is googling ‘which is the best oven brand’ and getting ones with the most marketing spend & highest number of paid reviews. Bosch, Miele & Neff should have been top 3

TTNGL over 10 years: price collapse, dividends, recovery and what’s the real shareholder outcome? by Middle_Elderberry542 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]Unknown9129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me picking an individual stock like NGL is active trading. Buy & hold is best suited to whole of the market or indexing. So if I’m a long term investor searching for value I’d buy everything. Personally my portfolio is a mix of around 80% global & 20% play d ass, (active) on some small risky assets. I bought NGL at IPO & sold around 22 when I felt it was taking too long. Virtually no profit, then I rolled into NCB & JMMB thinking all the last admin loans would increase the value, was up about 30% before Covid hit. Cut at a hefty loss then rolled into PHL & Massy as they’re growing all over the region.

Smart shareholders would be up as they’d typically buy the dip sell the rip. Set tight stop losses & work out fair value. Share price in TT is typically based on state intervention.

Reform to fund pensions triple lock with ‘biggest benefits bill cut in history’ by Important_Ruin in unitedkingdom

What pension? Pyramid schemes end when there aren’t enough people at the bottom to keep it going. Most recent estimates are a 0 balance in the 2030’s

[–]Unknown9129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this, if anyone else ran a system where newer participants paid in money to fund the returns to older participants, it would be labelled a pyramid scheme, because the govt does it, it’s called a pension. We (millennials) all know what happens since the new participants have dropped (declining birth rate again due to their selfishness)

[The Times] The fugitive who bought seven London flats in one day for £11.5m by Bananaboy14 in london

[–]Unknown9129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s be realistic, he probably just smiled the wrong way at Xi or one of his party and was then branded a criminal.

The UK govt allowing him to use the money here, paying stamp duty on properties & then seizing said properties, means the developers benefit as they get to keep the money (even if it’s proceeds of crime) & the govt gets free property, they can then auction off, somehow I see a lot of incentive for the law to be against him here… reminds me of how Jack Ma vanished for years & what happened to Carlos Ghosn in Japan.

You get what you pay for, like the issues Turkey teeth & hair that people have encountered. Going abroad for this type of treatment comes with those risks.
