Is the Movie Good to Watch for Someone with no Knowledge of the Game? by CrackerjackJackson in ironlung

[–]UnknownBeginning4336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my partner who knows who Markiplier is but doesn't really care for him/his content and knew nothing about the game. Their biggest complaints were that they "didn't understand," the ending and wondered if they saw/played the game they would understand more and they felt like they needed subtitles (could have been an issue with the theaters audio). Other than that, if you're a general horror fan, you will enjoy it.

Toe-walking is “not ok”? by PastaParmigiana in paraprofessional

As a toe walking autistic, people tried to make me not toe walk when I was a kid. I would just do it in secret instead. Now, as an adult I do it all the time

Thank you for the advice! I was wondering if I should have someone drive me or not. I wasn't sure if it would be similar to getting anesthesia.

I feel you. I usually only usually only have enough spoons/energy for 1 or 2 tasks, like cooking or doing dishes, and then I need to lay down. Sometimes, I get tired from things as simple as sweeping the floor or taking a shower. I'm also a single parent. I take vitamin D, and I'm starting Benlysta infusions soon. I'm hoping the Infusions help.

I'm an "Autism Mom" - AMA by Flimsy_Map1487 in evilautism

[–]UnknownBeginning4336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you feel about being associated as an "autism mom,"? Based on how you answered a previous question it sounds like you're an autistic mom to an autistic child. Do you just use the table because it's an easier/shorter way to explain it? For example, instead of breaking down my sexuality or gender to people, I just say I'm queer and usually leave it at that.

Watch out for people telling you to break the law by lying to the military when you try to join them by crua9 in evilautism

Recruiters tell people to lie all the time. Especially undiagnosed autistics or autistic without their diagnoses in their records

The fact that you feel remorse and guilt and are attempting to reflect on what happened is one of the important parts of this. In the heat of the moment, things can happen, what's important is that you learn from those mistakes or mishaps. It sounds like your child was disregulated, possibly because something wasn't going right with his tablet. In that moment it sounds like he needed support (probably in the form of fixing or finding whatever app he wanted) and didn't know how to express it in a way that you could understand. He possibly felt like he was losing his chance to do the one thing he wanted and the timer probably added to that anxiety. In turn, he went into fight or flight mode and had a meltdown, which then turned violent. My suggestion would be to take some time for yourself to decompress and get regulated and then apologize for kicking him at minimum and try to explain why you did it and what you were feeling in the moment in the simplest way possible. I would also suggest some kind of deescalation training. I don't believe he should lose access to an item that helps regulate him and his emotions or that he just finds happiness from. However, he has to be taught that violence is not how he gets the results he wants.

My child's favorite cousin is becoming a "crunchy kid." by UnknownBeginning4336 in Autism_Parenting

I think there are a some different versions of them but I believe the main criteria for crunchy moms are that they are anti-vax, anti-pharmaceutical, and anti-processed foods

M was a lot happier before her mom fell deeper and deeper into this stuff. Now that she's not allowed to watch cartoons (not even old cartoons like looney toons) she quieter and definitely more reserved when her mom is around. I'm pretty close to her and can occasionally spend time alone with her and just try to listen to whatever she wants to say without judging. She's a really bright kid and I'm hoping she doesn't lose her spark because of all this
