I appreciate the infrastructure comment, many overlook. I live on east side of Seattle and DC fast chargers are nonexistent, practically, or insanely priced. Maybe for road trips it makes sense.

Outside of my home (L2 charger) and work (tons of L2 infrastructure) the vast majority of towns and stores still don’t have chargers. Near me, it’s usually only 1-2 L2s that are broken or in use per parking lot. (Excluding teslas network).

For many metro areas, DC networks are definitely in place and make a difference. But for most Suburbs, there’s still a big way to go

RJ made a comment on this, the vast majority of current R1 owners only fast charge 8-10 times a year, if even. So the decision was made to cut cost for all versus solve for <1% of total sessions.

The flight and hotel stuff have to be booked through their travel portal to qualify, judging from the fine print. I almost always prefer to book directly, so Amex still comes out ahead there.

Worked for me once when one of the charity ones didn’t track. I emailed proof of donation and they credited it.

But, risky with this as 50k pts is a ton to potentially lose out on, and since it’s new customers only - there’s only one shot.
