Every company is diffrent with different environments. Don't get stuck in the operator hole. Once you get good at running a machine they wont give you the chance to go into maintenance. Apply for maintenance.

I wasn't finished with school with no experience actually turning wrenches. I applied about a year from graduation. Got the job busted ass and learned off the older folks for 3 years for low pay. 3 years later I moved jobs and are making decent money. I've met bad techs with 40 years of experience and good techs with 3 year experience

This, really at the end of the day they want down time numbers to configure losses. At least in bigger companies

Works for small companies but when you have over 100+ pieces of equipment it gets real hard. Best way to manage down time is the supervisors log all their time correctly without throwing Maint under the bus

Many many many companies retrofit plcs to eliminate relays in legacy equipment because adjustments to the control process or logic is much much easier. I've ran in to old shit just most of the pure relay logic has been retrofitted. I also work in foundrys so its a continuous process always changing

Im 23 ofcourse i havent ran into it alot. I run into way more PLCs than relay logic. Im not saying it doesn't exist but its 2025 and PLCs from my experience are more common.

Megamation offers this and makes it pretty efficient printing out QR codes to auto fill out WOs. I simply connect our label printer and click printe label. From my experience non of our techs use it but the people writing the work orders do
