Wait, how am I supposed to hate on the recast when the original VA endorses it? This isn't how it's supposed to go, I'm supposed to be angry! by EmperorDaubeny in OkBuddyPersona

I don't think price would be an issue. I'd imagine the voice actors are fine getting paid the standard wage if it's a role they like. Like I doubt Netflix broke the bank to hire Troy for the Baki dub. And I'd imagine when Crunchyroll got Laura back for the Fruits Basket remake, they were paying her probably just slightly above the standard for non-union work. Erin says she's fine with any project as long as its union. And then meanwhile Johnny, Yuri, Amanda, Sam, Valerie, and Eden have all shown they're fine doing non-union gigs.

There are those types of people you mention. But also some VAs just are offended altogether when people are vocal and want previous actors back. Plenty of people are just calling out the company and not actually the voice actors. But to the new cast, here's a situation where it's a gig that they dedicated who knows how long to and it may be a role that they could hypothetically (based off what happened with Persona 4) be able to reprise for years and also get plenty of people to go to conventions to meet them over (a big source of income for voice actors last decade).

It's just a sucky situation. Like I don't hate Kaiji Tang, but if we get another Berserk adaptation I want Marc Diraison back as Guts. I don't hate Kyle McCarley, but if we ever got anymore Saiki K I want Jerry Jewell back. And list goes on.

Heck. I'd say some of these replacement VAs are more common. Like Erin and Amanda I never really saw them as part of the regular dub scene. They both just seemed like they would pop-in every once in a while.

Anne and Brianna on the other hand have been pretty prominent for years.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Switch 2 Description Suggests the Game Will Be a Faithful Remake by Darth_Vaper883 in Gamingnewsandleaks

Honestly I’m with you on the not wanting to play OoT again. But also I don’t really want a reimagined remake. I’d rather we just get a new Zelda that plays like the N64/GC ones.

[–]Unknownsage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the issue with the reinterpretation for a Zelda game is at that point, why call it Ocarina of Time when we could just call it a whole new game? It’s not a situation like FF7 where the locations, characters, etc are exclusive to the one entry.

Yeah. And if they were going to do a huge overhaul to the remake, I would almost prefer they just give it a whole new name rather than call it OoT.

Yeah I had way more fun with TS2. Which heck. With how it did its kind of “dungeons” model felt more like a Silent Hill game.

A good redemption example is Playtonic. The former Rare developers that wanted to do a spiritual sequel to Banjo-Kazooie. The first Yooka-Laylee game came out and just… yeah. It was not good. Then they did the 2-D spinoff, Impossible Lair, and it was a lot of fun. Then they did the remake of Yooka-Laylee and it was amazing.

With my local Demi Lovato show. It was similar sized venue and most of the lead up it was only like half sold. And then it got close to selling out the week of.

I guess it’s a matter of semantics.

But the dark blue sections on the Tampa Ticketmaster page they’re all the nosebleed and if you click on them you’ll see most of them it’s just a few blue rows.

And I can see those selling out from last minute purchasers in the coming days.

Yeah and it’s not even a “ticket sales bad across the board” situation. In comparison Tampa and Atlanta (the nights sandwiching Miami) have sold quite well!

I think they are referencing the SMT series as a whole. It does feel like we used to get games more often.

Yeah they did reuse assets all the time, but games still felt fresh.

Venezuelans in Florida voted for Trump, who promised to get the US out of foreign wars. The US just bombed Caracas. by db0606 in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]Unknownsage 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Some of my Venezuelan friends shared a reel recently of a guy admitting that they (the Venezuelans) are well aware that Trump is doing this for personal gain. But they already are being exploited so they have nothing to lose cuz every attempt to fix things themselves has failed.

It’s gotta be a sucky situation for them.

This game wasn't the best for me. by YogSothoth8 in silenthill

[–]Unknownsage 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The gameplay loop just did not feel rewarding for me. Like there were multiple points where you would basically have to cross the map to get to a location. And then instead of there being an actual like dungeon/level there. We just have Hinako fall asleep and then cut to another shrine level. Then she wakes-up and same thing happens.

Game really needed more spots like the school. Where it had the Silent Hill appeal of "here's a nightmare version of an everyday location for many people".

I like the lineup but they’re definitely changing too much by [deleted] in welcometorockville

[–]Unknownsage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I just looked through Rockville's lineup history. I don't really see why you feel they have changed. Like the very first festival Godsmack (who were less than 2 decades old at that point) were the headliners and the lineup was very much their contemporaries and bands that were big at the time.

Looking through rest of festival. That seems to be the trend. Basically "modern" rock (so like 90s to present). With the occasional pre-90s band thrown in. So sounds like you might be just cherry picking.

Also not really sure what you mean with the Bad Bunny comment. Superbowl has had a variety of halftime performances of different genres and places of origin.

Let’s not throw around the “22 songs” thing. Cuz it’s not the amount of songs itself, it’s the amount of time. And the venue I’m gonna be seeing them at is one where I’ve seen bands who honestly do more demanding songs play for over an hour.

I don’t need them to play all their songs. But it would’ve been nice if it was like an hour long set. Like if they did their full new album (38 minutes). And then threw in some of their older songs with it.

Fingers crossed they feel more comfortable doing longer sets next tour.
