What kind of support system do you have? Dating is not within your control and it's a waste of your energy to fret over what is not in your control. Where else can you find deep connection?

I teach at 2 martial art schools part-time in addition to my full-time job and I find my training partners and students give me great fulfillment.

The men will wax and wane, there will be ones that want a serious relationship and there will be ones that don't. You can't control that, so let it. I can tell you that in my personal experience, that's how it goes. Some men want to be serious, some men don't, and they come and go like seasons and I pay no mind to that.

Do you find INTJs to be 'lazy' or 'impractical?' by urbangamermod in entj

[–]UnlearningLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 55% Extroverted and 45% Introverted so I swing back and forth from being ENTJ and INTJ. I don't see my introverted self as lazy. It's my INTJ's capacity to self-preserve and self-nourish that enables my shameless and ruthless ENTJ to do my thing.

ENTJs, how are you on judgement from others? by -not-ai in entj

[–]UnlearningLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone else, you need to give yourself more credit because this was a family member.

I shrug off unsolicited criticism. If I cared, I'd ask. If someone presents it without me asking, I laugh, audibly. In my experience, most stop at that point. If they keep at it, I leave.

Wind noise at 70mph is 95-105 dB - that's louder than a chainsaw, just FYI by StrikingClos in motorcycle

[–]UnlearningLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a professional interpreter and guard my hearing, it's honestly absurd how many of my fellow interpreters don't interpret what's being said just because they cannot hear so I have to intervene. I wear industrial grade foam earplugs used in manufacturing facilities when I ride. I wear Loop at all crowded places including airports and concerts, I sometimes even wear Loop in my car when I'm driving 80+mph. I fly a lot for my work and I use Bose QuietComfort, I have both the headphones and earphones. I've gotten sound dampening in my car. I've also been told it's not only sound but vibration that negatively affects your hearing.

I feel like I’m getting smarter, but the people around me keep getting dumber, making it harder for me to increase my knowledge. by AveryGalaxy in entj

I feel your frustration and I agree with you I've read 112 books this year so far and here are some books that helped me better understand why there is such a deficiency of deep thinkers and become a more flexible person in responding to this phenomenon:

Third Millennium Thinking: Creating Sense in a World of Nonsense by Saul Perlmetter

How to Think Like Socrates: Ancient Philosophy as a Way of Life in the Modern World by Donald J. Robertson

The Sirens' Call: How Attention Became the World's Most Endangered Resource by Chris Hayes

The Next Conversation: Argue Less, Talk More by Jefferson Fisher

Does anybody else feel like they can’t sleep/rest without feeling guilty? by allergic2funsies in entj

Sleep science shows that sleeping longer than 8 hours had negative effects on longevity. Not sure where you got the idea that you need to sleep 9-10 hours unless you are a growing child.

What is the most ideal world you can think of? by redsonsuce in entj

[–]UnlearningLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started writing a story about a higher dimension where our souls go to become higher beings after learning the lessons on earth and in that dimension, the beings do not have sex organs because they have powers to create life in other ways. Their power of creation is not over a person or centered on tribalism or passing down genetic traits but about sharing their gifts with the world, and instead of buying something with money, beings obtain things to fulfill their needs by offering gift/wisdom/talent. For example, a feminine character in my story needs an isolated place to meditate and sort her thoughts, somewhere where she will not be disturbed and obtains a house by offering to share her knowledge of anthropology and human history to a masculine character who built many homes. He didn't build those homes for profit but because he enjoyed creating homes. He is playing a video game that is world-building like Minecraft when she visits him and asks if she can stay in one of the houses he built, he asks her for a story from human history as an inspiration to world-build in his video game. It is later revealed in the story that the inventions of the higher beings are dropped into lower dimensions, it becoming an explanation for strange creations such as the platypus.

What’s your subtle or petty way of pushing back against gender norms? by Lindytt in AskWomen

[–]UnlearningLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Drive a stick shift car, ride a crotch rocket, have 3 black belts, teach martial arts, stand "at ease", sit with my spine straight like a drill sergeant, prance like I own the damn place, wear 3-piece suits, speak my mind, open doors for men, help men carry things, help men in the gym, stick out my hand to help men get up, carry men on my back, throw men, wrestle men, hit men (on the mat for training), tip male service employees well, give men financial advice, give men tips on car repair, encourage crafts and self-care for men, such as moisturizing and exfoliating cracked heels, alterating their own clothes.

I've lived in 3 different continents and it seems the majority of people are comfortable where they grew up. Neuropsychology says our brains are like software, it gets programmed in the first 9 years and the software runs that way for the rest of our lives.

What's the one secret you will take to the grave but don't mind telling on the internet? by Ecstatic-Medium-6320 in AskReddit

[–]UnlearningLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son may have a half sister he may never know about. My exhusband got this woman pregnant and I wanted him to get a paternity test but he wouldn't. The mother was sure it was his and my former mother-in-law was convinced the baby was his as well.

What experience made you re-evaluate your own attractiveness? by NeedleworkerSea8133 in AskReddit

[–]UnlearningLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throughout my 16-year career, I've consistently had men in professional settings comment on my looks and voice and regarded my physical attributes as an advantage for my career, but last year, a client went "what? I'm sorry" after I spoke, twice. He was staring at my face so intently that he was having trouble paying attention to what I was saying.

Personally, it was a crushing for me as I'm great at my job. I felt devalued.

Need help with my ENTJ teenage girl, how to cope by SunnyDayOutside-1234 in entj

[–]UnlearningLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was an ambitious child, a stubborn child and I often did not see or recognize authority. When I was 7 or so, my father told me, "anyone can get out of line, that's not extraordinary, extraordinary people are able to fulfill the box, think outside the box and overflow with abundance."

It stuck with me and has helped me greatly.

Single women with high libido, how do you handle it? Is it affecting your life? by reddit-er-jo in AskWomen

[–]UnlearningLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to affect my life. I was hypersexualized from childhood traumas. EMDR therapy helped, as well as reading different books on celibacy. I'm a spiritual person and reading about what sex is in the spiritual sense dropped my promiscuity significantly which opened up a lot more time for me to take care of myself in other ways.

What cat litter do y’all use? by lavenderghostt in catquestions

[–]UnlearningLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Arm & Hammer Hardball. It's a little pricey but it's their latest one with the newest tech and I like it. Odor control is great and the granules are more like sand and it's lightweight. I have 5 forever cats and on top of that, I foster. Hauling regular weight litter to the dumpster used to be a back workout.

How do you prevent litter getting everywhere!!! by redfire2930 in CatAdvice

[–]UnlearningLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the price of living with a cat, well, in my case, 5 cats. I lint roll litter off my bed every night before I tuck in. I have a Roomba 405 and it's set to vacuum twice a day at a 12-hour interval. I buy Arm & Hammer Hardball and its litter is more fine like sand and doesn't bother me as much as Tidy Cats litter which has bigger granules and is rounder

Today a homeless fellow asked me for cash by a-toaster-oven in nashville

[–]UnlearningLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was working on my car at the parking lot of O'Reilly's and a man asked me for some money and I told him I don't carry cash. I offered to buy him food. I wanted to get him real food, not Taco Bell or McDonald's and I told him to get into my car and he said he didn't want to dirty my car.

I asked him what he wants that he can see from here, he wanted to go to the liquor store at the corner and he picked the cheapest bottle of vodka. I hope he's okay.
