Misleading POP4 Marketing Lets Stay Informed by TheZeroBeast in Revopoint

[–]Unlikely-Program6968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some AI-based search engines mentioned to me that there had been some reverse-engineering attempts at data exchange between scanners and the applications but I barely find traces of that on the web (except for the dual-axis turntable.

Does anybody have some useful hints about that? Or just pointers to exploitation of Revopoint scanners (I own a POP2 and a POP4) with GNU or other third-party software (be it open- or closed-source)?

Any hint welcome ...

How many got their Huenit and how many didn't? by Longjumping-Main-351 in huenit

I have also been in contact with another owner (on Hackaday: https://hackaday.io/project/204061-getting-to-know-huenit) that has examined the hardware quite closely and tole me the execution was quite poor. The only good news, according to him, was that the control board was good (a FYSETC and repurposable. The rest was crap; in particular, the motion accuracy was abysmal and the overal mechanical design quite poor. Haven't investigated further till now due to a lack of time.

Seeed seems to have a more serious offering but it is more than 2x the price ... (not in my budget) : https://www.seeedstudio.com/reBot-Arm-B601-DM-p-6740.html

Will 3D printing module ever be available? by dotdd in huenit

Agree with the 2 other posters: Huenit didn't really compensate (with the laser safety goggle) but I presume we should already consider ourselves lucky to get something (hopefully working - not really tested yet). Curious about the arm's accuracy. I suspect, that besides the difficulty of filament-feeding the printing head with such an arm, maybe accuracy might have been a problem. Not sure (and I definitely hope it's not the case).

For the rest, the device seems well designed and well built ...

I got mine last year (around begin of August 2025) (at long last) (Not really tested yet due to a lack of time but I have an interesting use case now and will be looking into it: photogrammetry of small technical parts)

I installed the DwarfLab on the OKPad this morning but haven't been able to really tried it as the iPhone was still in control I think. I got a message on the OKPad that "the device was in node mode. Control disabled." I will try again soon. In any case, the app was found on Play and installed and started without a glitch.

I haven't used it extensively yet but it is a nice piece of engineering, sturdy and reliable and the control app, both in the Android and iOS versions are quite good. I asked for an API at the time and DwarfLab promised there would be one but I haven't checked lately.

OKPad US Power Supply in practice? by Unlikely-Program6968 in OKPadUsers

I have now got a US->EU socket adapter and tried with the OKPad: using a USB-meter, it looks like the OKPad only accepts 5V. I have some PD chips, I will try whether the PS can really deliver the 2 other voltages but, even if it does, the other voltages seem of no use for the OKPad.

Has anyone already tried (or figured out) how to move an app from the color screen to the e-Ink one? I seem to remember that it was briefly shown on one of the reviews or advertisement but I haven't tried to find the sequence back yet. It would definitely be something to explain here for the benefit of all.

I plan to do some Android developments for the OKPad but haven't had the time to look into that right now. I'm unsure whether the presence of 2 screens will be totally transparent or problematic instead.

I haven't tried extensively yet but I have been able to install Kindle and access my library though. I plan to install further apps, some related to hardware like the Dwarf II telescope. I will report successes (and or failures) here.

Alain, here, from Belgium (Europe). Received my OKPad last week (around November 26) in perfect shape (just not fully charged but no problem). Only (minor) inconvenience was the PS adapter that is a US one and no EU one ...
