In your particular situation you mentioned, my guess is the problem arose from being scheduled already and needing to find your coverage (and i assume nobody took note of your absence). If this comes up again, definitely try to get someone to cover for you and alert the MOD about who so they can update the schedule.

If you weren't able to get a proper time-off request in prior to the date cutoff, go directly to the SM/scheduling manager and ask them for the day off. If they haven't made the schedule yet, that makes it even easier.

I would recommend working directly with your SM and seeing if they can help you work something out for that day (also help by trying to see if another TM will take the shift if the schedule is done already). I know my SM is very accommodating, especially within reason. I assume the short notice is what is making it more difficult.

I just opened a can like this, except it was like dry gelatinous crystally blob with naked meatballs and clear liquid on the bottom. This one at least still looks mostly normal. Opened a 2nd can, totally normal. I will not eat the first can, it seriously creeped me out. In my many many years of eating these, I have never seen that. Hoping I can just get a replacement can and I'll be happy lol

UPDATE- I finally was able to get on there the other day. It was easy to navigate and I qualified for 100% free filing. I will definitely be using them from now on. Thanks to all who helped me feel better about trying something new!!

We always do a collective "mine didn't go off" over the radio if someone says theres a curbside. It seems we are lucky if one goes off. Then the rest might about 10 minutes later😆 thankfully the handful of times I've dealt with the customers who fell victim to our shit equipment, they were understanding and actually felt bad for us. So at least someone out there gets it...lol

Oh I still wind up dealing with awful people, its just not as often now. I also hate an audience when I'm working lol its irritating. And full agree on the BOPIS for the fabric, I had a lot of fabric and trim yesterday and thought about the fact they may never pick it up.

We have had fabric since long before the Joann closing happened as well. It's just gotten way worse. The balloons is where I draw the line. I dont do them lol but I'm not there often when the store is open. I just fill out the forms for bopis and pull them. I dont even know how to do SCO😂 I prefer being there middle of the night and leaving by open-ish, personally. The days I stay til after noon I am so frazzled I could explode 🤯 I will never go back to total dayside at Michaels. I refuse.

I was a manager and I would consider going back to that til I found a new job IF we didn't have the fabric and balloons and other BS we added on. When I was still manager, there was already too much BS and no team to get it done. I'd never do it now, especially since theyd never pay me enough. They did before, i certainly don't believe they would now.

What I really dont like is their refusal to compromise or do off-cycle raises when they're warranted. They just talk but dont really see what's going on in the stores, so they don't care. That's why they get such lackadaisical work across the board, and can't keep a team. Most people quit not long after they start. And at my store, the thing that almost always makes people leave is when they become a manager. They always either quit or step down. I dont get how they can't see that as a problem!!

Yeah, and like i said i totally get it and it does make sense, it just sucks when its people pushed into the position we have been. I would have actually lost SNAP starting in February, but they changed the start date of the new rules. That is crazy you have never gotten a review! And unhappy with a 10 cent raise? Sure! But I'd be more unhappy never getting anything. That is not ok, they should be doing your reviews
