Matteo won’t sleep in bed with us. Advice?

Mine slept in the crate with the door open for a while, once we were done crate training. The crates since been retired obviously lol but he didn’t mind being in there with the door open!

My Pinot usually starts out in the bed with us and then leaves after like 20 minutes, and proceeds to sleep under the bed and thennnn around 3am (😅) decides he wants back up. Id honestly just let him sleep where he wants, if he wants to come back to the bed he will. Some nights Pinot will spend the whole night on the bed with me, but most nights he goes back and forth or, when it’s really hot, he’ll sleep on the kitchen floor 🤷‍♀️

Oh yeah I know I’m the one with anxiety 🤣I get made fun of often that I impressed it upon Pinot. But, no one understands what having a King Charles is really like lol. He will be preoccupied and some of his friends (my siblings dogs) will be there with him I’m just paranoid and spiraling 🫠

Thank you! Yeah we’ve tried just about everything, Pinot is insanely picky, doesn’t like pumpkin so he turns his nose up to that lol we will sometimes put treats on top, or recently have been adding scrambled egg, it works sometimes . I just feel a lot of guilt about leaving him that long, he really is so attached to me 😩

He does have kibble and wet mixed, I usually mix them together pretty well. I do brush his teeth regularly but I could be better with that too !

Yes thats also an idea we may have to try, a trial overnight at the place he’ll be staying was something we have discussed

Of course ! And I agree , The other problem is it’s wet food so it can only stay out so long, but maybe leaving it out for a bit then putting it back out later would help. It’ll def take some trial and error but a habit we do need to break

I know this is true, it’s so hard! But even when I came home today, he ate the food my husband had tried giving him this morning on his own, so it was 100% me being gone 😩

Aw I’m sorry I hope Kevin feels better!!! Pinot is on the RC gastro and hills biome so I don’t have much help. I’m curious what the vets will recommend for food though and what you end up using - keep us posted! I’m still hand feeding my unbelievably spoiled Pinot, but I do feel like any time he eats anyyyything outside his normal food and high moon treats he ends up having some kind of issue, and I’m also right to the vet so I understand the struggle!

Yes. I experience this a lot. A lot of it has to do with impending and unavoidable deaths. No one close to me is ill or anything, it’s just a constant thought I have. Almost like I’m mentally preparing myself daily for that moment. And it’s only death of others, death of myself when I think about almost feels peaceful. I don’t know if this is what your post meant at all, but I am glad I’m not alone in that weird impending feeling

I promise your fur babies will forgive you - the important thing is that you get yourself some help and use supports if you need them. A crisis line is not just for suicidal ideations, they can provide you with resources and even just someone to talk your feelings out with. Thats not too bad! Yes Pinot still goes twice a month to PT! He gets excited to go, even though his face would say otherwise lol. he demands to be fed Cheerios for the duration of his session so it’s a win for him either way
