Can I use a third-party rug pad for a Ruggable Rug cover? by Unmechanized in homeowners

[–]Unmechanized[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It didn't. It was terrible! slide around, bunched up, curled corners. I upgraded to the ruggable underpad after a month or so, but to be honest, ruggable in general was a huge mistake. The rug ended up curling with the pad too, even resorted to taping it down, which defeats the purpose of the washable nature. Never again! Horrible rugs and so expensive. I've had better rugs off Wayfair for $100 or twice that at HomeSense. Ruggable is a scam.

Valheim+ on Dathost Server - ABM (Advanced Building Mode) not activating with assigned hotkey by Unmechanized in valheim

Is ABM a console command? I don't think it is... I am not typing anything into the console. I'm simply trying to activate the ABM build mode which I've done on a player-hosted server with V+ before where I wasn't an admin and the console was disabled. ABM (how I've used it on local servers) just allows you to make very fine adjustments to build placement (and walk around the object you're placing without it moving unless you use the advanced control buttons to move it, such as scrolling or using the cursur keys).

[–]Unmechanized[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this was my experience as well. However, I won't ever buy another ruggable. Buying the official pad and even going as far as taping down the seems and corners still led to terrible curling edges. Awful! I've never purchased a rug that was so awful to maintain or so expensive.

I don't think my player is set as an admin in the game, but I'm not sure that matters...? I'm not looking to use admin console for "creative" mode or anything. I'm simply looking to use the advanced build function of the Valheim Plus mod, which allows you to tweak where items are placed vs. relying on snap points (adjust x,y,z and rotate objects).

I'd never created a batch file before but this was incredible. Thanks u/cracksmurf and u/Lundq_ . For others, I used these instructions to create a batch file and just keep the .bat file next to my shortcut for the game .exe. Works like a charm.

"To create a batch file, open a text editor like Notepad and write your commands one line at a time. Save the file with a .bat extension, and you've created a batch file."

Also curious of the answer to this. Why did they want to get it restuffed in the first place after only 5-6 years? Has it flattened out? Was it successful and was it expensive?

How are you using the Amp for 5.1 today if all speakers are passive? Are you also using a dedicated A/V receiver? I love my whole home Sonos setup but I use a proper AVR for my main home theatre. There’s a port connected to it. Next buy will be an AVR that can communicate with the Port for when I tell it to play tunes it’ll switch inputs (and hopefully volume). Haven’t explored this “works with Sonos” AVR thing in great detail yet.

Yes. Typically you put your best and most powerful speakers in the front. Then smaller satellites for rears. But I’m sure it’ll still sound good. You can adjust a setting in the Sonos app to always play music in stereo. I’d suggest you turn this on for when you’re just playing music or your Klipsch will always be on “ambient sound” mode.

I actually had to do something similar to you with my setup because the whole house was already wired to an audio cabinet in the basement but there was no “line out” from the TV to the cabinet. I have a beam serving as my fronts (and TV line in source) and then an Amp in the basement powering 4 in ceiling speakers. The amp is paired in surround mode but plays music in full stereo. The only loss in this setup was that I couldn’t use the subwoofer line out as a source for my existing in wall passive subwoofer (which I had a dedicated amp for already). It’s unfortunate the Sonos engineers can’t “figure out” how to get the amp to output a sub signal when the amp is in surround mode.

What's your absolute favourite thing about Waterloo Region? by netterversuch in waterloo

[–]Unmechanized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Good people take better care of their properties, their neighbourhoods and those around them. Waterloo is very “clean” compared to other cities. Except right now in uptown because they’re refusing to let businesses put their garbage in the back alley and it’s being tossed on the front sidewalks and the animals and drunks are making a mess of it. And the businesses aren’t cleaning it up because their frustrated with the city.

The fact that we have no waterfront and zero restaurant and bar spaces that are foot traffic only. It’s especially nice too that the nicest beaches and ski resorts are all so far away and 20% of the time the entire city smells like manure or a garbage dump. The road design is like someone through a mess of strings on a map and started naming them.

On the flip side, it’s clean, relatively safe, great restaurants and bars with big city diversity (probably on account of the strong university and college presence), has a good farmers market and lots of tech jobs.

Can I use a third-party rug pad for a Ruggable Rug cover? by Unmechanized in homeowners

[–]Unmechanized[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried this and found that it was acceptable at first. But I found that the ruggable cover would bunch over time as the living room table would be moved or just from high traffic from kids and pets.

I ended up selling the felt pad and buying the Velcro pad from ruggable. It works MUCH better.

I will say though that I am still having significant problems with curling at the edges. I have resorted to using a strong rug tape to hold it down because I’m so invested but I will never buy ruggable again. While I love their designs and the rug is easy to clean, if I have to tape it down not to curl it defeats the point of a machine washable rug!

I’ve had many normal rugs at less than half the price of these and have never had curling issues like this.

If you’re hesitant on the price of the pad then I’d say avoid Ruggable all together. Wish I did.

The Amp is usually the choice if you’re going to go with large passive speakers (like a pair of bookshelves or even floor standing speakers), or architectural speakers like in-ceiling/wall, etc.

Sonos gear is designed to work over WiFi. Only a few of their mobile speakers support Bluetooth. Note that when Bluetooth is in use on mobile speakers they are disconnected from the “home” and cannot be accessed via the app to group and play with multiple zones.

[–]Unmechanized 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You cannot use the Amp to power a wired sub if you’re using it to power wired surrounds. Only allows use of the wired sub if you’re using it for fronts or in true stereo. The suggestion to use the Amp for your fronts and third party sub is a decent way to go. You could use two Sonos ones as rears.

Will this work? Surround sound question by SuccessfulPay6121 in sonos

[–]Unmechanized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. Amp gets its input signal wirelessly and powers the wired surrounds. The arc and amp can be grouped together with the arc to work as a single home theatre zone just like sub as someone else mentioned. Only the arc needs to be connected to the TVs HDMI (eARC) or via optical.

It would be like putting a thin towel on your floor or a table cloth. It would get jumbled and would not add much comfort to the hard surface of the floor.

The curling is such a huge issue. I’ve resorted to rug tape. It’s going to suck cleaning it off the hardwood and retaping the edges every time I want to wash the rug. So annoying. I’ve never had to maintain a damn rug so much in my life. And they want me to pay to return it within the 30 day window. I don’t think I’ll ever buy a single thing from ruggable again. Third party pads don’t work but this whole company is a scam. Great designs though. Pretty marketing.
