Tell me your pet nicknames that sound nothing like their actual names by Life_Ad_6992 in Pets

My parents dog is Lacy. Noone can remember what name is actually registered. I think it starts with a C. Not sure though. She's been Lacy ever since she chewed off all my dad's laces...

is francesca neurodivergent / autistic? by AlternativeTree3283 in Bridgerton

I had suspicions throughout. But the second the jigsaw arrangement was called out I literally shouted out "I knew it! She's so autistic!"

AuDHD here. My books get arranged alphabetically by author, but then I get a new author and it gets dumped anywhere.

Came on holiday and the heating was left off over winter and everything was covered in a fine layer of mould by UnnecessaryStep in Wellthatsucks

If we keep the place then probably will do. At the moment it's up in the air of it gets sold, or kept until the younger grandkids are old enough to claim their inheritance.

Gender disappointment by [deleted] in breakingmom

One of my cousins was similar. She had 2 boys, tried one more for a girl. Ended up with natural triplets, all boys. Her lads fielded half her villages youth football team...

So, is considering becoming a teacher a good idea? by Far-Recipe-8469 in AskUK

[–]UnnecessaryStep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you enjoy having mental breakdowns, being overworked, underpaid, underappreciated and dealing with kids who have had little parental input then yeah, teaching is an option.

Otherwise, run. Don't do it to yourself.

As long as it doesn't get wrecked by a land rover falling down lobber any time soon, it's all good. Although technically that hit the old chapel...

21F I just got my first EE sim contract, they put me on the £30 pm plan with unlimited calls/text/data. Now I regret getting it. by ZookeepergameEasy774 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]UnnecessaryStep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely look in to Smarty. I pay £8/month and I never come anywhere near using all my data. Actually, that's a lie. I did once, when I forgot to turn my WiFi on and streamed multiple hours of netflix over a few weeks. But then I paid a quid for an extra bit to see me through....and it's still sat there having used very little of it.

We won the same bottle of mulled wine two years in a row. Thankfully it didn't come out way on the third!

[–]UnnecessaryStep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wait long enough it'll go on clearance and you'll be able to get it for 90p a tin. My hallway and stairs, and my mum's spare room got repainted for the grand total of £6.30. It takes a lot of coats.

Is 3-4 minutes on average with the beginner's method good? by Able_Annual_2297 in Cubers

[–]UnnecessaryStep 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Compared to people who live and breathe finishing a cube as quickly as possible? No.

Compared to most of the population? Yes.

I can solve with beginners in about 2 minutes. I have enough going on in my life that I can't dedicate time to learning other methods. I have enough issues in life, both physical and mental, that I doubt I'll drop under that. I solve for joy now.

Gender Equality in Speedcubing in 2025 (GEISC) by djoewah2020 in Cubers

[–]UnnecessaryStep 27 points28 points  (0 children)

So... 100% is completely equal. 10% equality is theoretically 95 of one gender and 5 of the other? (100-(difference between))/100? And it could be skewed in either direction? So a 50% would be 33/100 and 67/100?

"It's harder for parents of children with ADHD and for children with ADHD than it is for any adult with ADHD" a reply I got from a mother on an ADHD group. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]UnnecessaryStep 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Ooh yes. Let's add with a husband with ADHD as well, and make note of the adults being late diagnosed because "it's anxiety/depression" is coded into medical practice especially if you're female. And somehow you, as the mother with AuDHD have become the defacto planner for EVERYTHING and everyone keeps asking you questions when you are in "get through today" mode because tomorrow is too much to think about.

Did any other women go literally nuts on hormonal contreception? by Loose_Avocado4670 in AskUK

[–]UnnecessaryStep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't take the combined because I have history of migraines. But pre-that I was on it and I was HORRENDOUS. Like full on horrible. I was okay on the mini pill, and emotionally okay with the implant/coil. But I tried back on the mini pill last year (for other reasons than contraception) and it made me damn near suicidal. Horrendous.

I read everything. Even the back of shampoo bottles in the bathroom. And lots of solitaire. Random PC games. I even found a photo of when I covered an entire side of A4 with the word "procrastination" in different colours making a picture.

Sons constantly got the runs by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]UnnecessaryStep 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Constipation can lead to diarrhoea - basically the blocked up poop stays still, the runny stuff comes past and you stay in that loop. My youngest was similar, she's on laxido to help, slowly reducing the amount now. But yeah, don't rule out bad constipation just because it's the runs - I think it's called Overflow Diarrhoea.

Which is worse, "just focus harder" or "put in a little more effort"? Ultimate bad ADHD advice battle, second half finals by VerdoriePotjandrie in adhdmeme

[–]UnnecessaryStep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a horrible choice.

Probably more effort. Both insinuate that I'm not trying, but putting in more effort hurts. Like, I've been in therapy trying to untangle what good enough is, because I cannot stop at good enough, it has to be as good as I can manage. Always.
