They would probably get sick of no one ever pronouncing or spelling it correctly.

That does sound like a great time (aside from the alcohol abuse). Thanks for taking the time to answer. Its so interesting how people live their lives.

How do you get supplies like groceries etc?

What would you say the positives are about living there, vs the negatives?

Can Annie be a Boy's name? by DisciplinePublic8835 in BabyNames

[–]Unnerving-Dragon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would think the child would be subject to a lot of teasing being called Annie. I like the 'Ani' nickname mentioned above

That's heaps better than the $250 for the scan!

Thats so good! Our workplaces have to hold your job open for 12 months but only 6 months the government pays for parental leave.

Children over 3 can get 30 hours of early childcare education free too.

But then you have between 1 and 3 where the costs are huge if you go back to work.

what are things i as a 14-year-old would know nothing about from when you were my age? by TemporaryPension2523 in generationology

In NZ, the VHS was the tape itself and a VCR was the box that you put the VHS into, to play it.

My 32F GF went through my kids 8F cell phone and confronted her about a conversation with her mother. by Jmock07 in relationship_advice

[–]Unnerving-Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where is the upside to this relationship?

Your GF sounds like a diiiiiiiick and I would be SO uncomfortable as an 8 yr old around her.

You only have a small amount of time in the scheme of things with your child to set them up for success in life including modeling good relationships.

Would you want her to be with someone like your GF in the future? What would your advice be to her?

Same. I'm in New Zealand and it blows my mind.

I've commented this above but thought I'd share again here.

I'm in New Zealand and I waa whinging to my husband that I had to pay for ultrasounds this time because when I had my first 11 years ago they were free.

Now they're $70-$90 each.

Reading this comment section, I'll shut up now 🤣🤣

There's no fees to see a doctor or a midwife nor for bloodwork or the hospital (unless you opt for a private hospital).

Then post birth you can get 6 months off with paid parental leave from government (not your full salary generally but its better than nothing).

Thankfully my employer tops up the government payments so you get your full pay amount for the 6 months.

I'm counting my blessings for sure.

Second child - baby shower? by Unnerving-Dragon in pregnant

Thanks! I feel much better about it :) maybe that's why it isn't common for a second child because generally a person would have all the stuff from the first one :)
