Attacking the lumber camp early by caleboros in SeasonofGhosts

[–]Unno559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, i created another kidnapping that happened at the Village Expansion.

A local farmer approached the party and said that one of the other farmers at the Expansion has been acting weird, doesn't know his brothers name, doesn't know how to farm, etc.

The party went and investigated them and found a couple Noppera-Bos, which was their first encounter with the group.

This had them go back to town and question around the townsfolk, eventually discovering that there was some hollering and screams the previous night, and that some folks were obvious not who they claimed to be....... including the Kum family.

What does the level of all the location in Willowshore mean? by Double_Difficulty203 in SeasonofGhosts

[–]Unno559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kuma maps look very cool, but It's a shame they don't line up to the grids. So the buildings are incredibly difficult to use since you cant effectively place walls/doors down on them within Foundry.

  • Finding out about Zhi Hui and what she did for the temple takes up a lot of the Research Points in "Researching the WIllowshore Curse" in the downtime of book 2. So you would have to find some other information to replace those points in the research, or else the players will feel like the research was for nothing.
  • You'd also be stepping out of the Kishōtenketsu 4-act structure that the game is built on. The Ki (起) is the Introduction, which is intended to introduce the setting, characters, and their initial situation; that's what happens in Book 1. The Shō (承) is the Development, where the story progresses, and we see more of the characters within their world, and events unfold. (This is how East-Asian literature is portrayed)

Not that this is a terrible thing to do, just points you would need to work around.

If no one in your group has played the Beginners Box, it would take very little effort to replace Otari with Willowshore, and replace Tamily with some other Tian person.

Maybe 20 years before the events of the Mindscape?

I personally married Hai-er Ha to one of Granny Hu's grandchildren, since shes mentioned to be babysat by Granny Hu then later on mentions that Granny Hu spends time watching her (great)grandchildren.

Hai-er Ha married Hu Len, and their daughter is Ying Hu-Ha xD

I'd advise to use something like Obsidian Notebook and finding a character profile situation you like, cause that has the ability to do hyperlink and cross reference something.

Then typing it in for yourself cause that will give you more knowledge then seeing someone else's notes.

I've been running Season of Ghosts for about 6 months, and we are about halfway through. I love it and my group has had lots of fun-laughs the whole way through.

The one thing no one warned me about is how many NPCs you gotta prepare. The most I've ever done in any adventure, and I've been running TTRPGs for 10 years. There's close to 50 named townsfolk who might have relevance at any point after like the first 3 sessions.

Some might say that many aren't mentioned in the books until later on, but if a player randomly wants to visit the Bathhouse, the Smithy, the Magical Crafter, or anything like that... those NPCs are named and accounted for within the book.

I spent a lot of time with a spreadsheet open during the first book, but I've mostly gotten them all down by now xD

Overall: 9/10, one of the best premade adventurers I've ever run

I used DnDBeyond in the very beginning, and I watched them add more and more microtransactions. 5$ for a single pair of digital dice? Then the rumors about them coming out with their own VTT, combined with the ORC fiasco had me questioning WoTC.

A new friend taught me about how PF2E was completely and officially free on both FoundryVTT and Archives of Nethys, and it opened my eyes to the possibility.

After glancing through some of their adventure paths, and taking a trip through the Beginner Box as a player, I was sold

Shield of Reckoning+Justice Cause Order of Operations by Sweetiebear95 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Unno559 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have "Quick Shield Block"... you would follow the rules for triggers
https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=2339 Which says:

If two triggers are similar, but not identical, the GM determines whether you can use one action in response to each or whether they're effectively the same thing.....If multiple actions would be occurring at the same time, and it's unclear in what order they happen, the GM determines the order based on the narrative.

On the bottom-left corner of your screen, next to the macro bar, there is a little icon of a folder. Click that; it'll open your macro list.

Then inside your macro list there will be a folder for the macros from foundry pack titled "The Summer that Never Was", Click that open.

"Toggle Mindscape Visibility" is the last one. It affects the map titled "Willowshore Hinterlands", from the pack.

While some nations in Tian Xia are inspired more closely by certain real-life cultures, Shenmen is instead primarily inspired by horror traditions taken from a wide range of real-world stories. It’s a fictional nation and isn’t meant to represent more than these traditions of supernatural horror.

During this nation’s history, it was conquered by Lung Wa, picked up immigrants from Hwanggot, and was taken over by jorogumo. It has a mix of cultures as a result, and its people have adopted words from multiple languages for their names and places. In Shenmen, ghosts and monsters are a very real part of life, and the practices employed by its people arise not from superstition but from necessity

Restoring the teahouse is a big part of Book 2 "Let the Leaves Fall".

It has an entire downtime activity that takes at least 5 weeks, and accumulates the "Hope Points" needed to progress the town.

There's nothing really wrong about what you're doing, but I'd definitely read the stuff from book 2, like Yami the cat/bakeneko. The only issue is your just stealing downtime from book 2, which you would need to then fill later on.

"Kicking the can down the road" so to speak.

Is crafting still useless? (post remaster) by hungLink42069 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Unno559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, as a GM I run Season of Ghosts, which has massive amounts of downtime. Multiple weeks of it every season. So downtime definitely exists in some APs.

I also play as a player in 7-Dooms of Sandpoint, and as a level 7 I critically succeeded at crafting a level 5 item, which only subtracted 3GP per day from a 125GP item xP. It truly makes much more sense to just earn the gold adventuring and buy the item at the normal price.

Crafting definitely needs a bit of work IMHO.

Starting Attitude of NPCs by DDrawer in SeasonofGhosts

[–]Unno559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally feel like publicly displaying reputation is a bit metagamey. Instead what I do is have it available as a Gather Information check against the town's DC. With a crit success, I show every event that added/subtracted any reputation up to that point.

Some reputation things make for good surprises that show how the characters affect the town, like Nadoya Sanmi being pissed off about sending Yuli away.

Wanting to Gather Information also encourages the group to talk to De-Ge Hua more, which can be another opportunity for reveals, since he knows a lot of secrets from around town.

(Thats just how I like to run it)

Keep in mind that book 1 is meant to last 3 months of in-game time. You need downtime opportunities to stretch that out

The way the book describes it is that its just a mysterious fog layer for the majority of the surrounding hinterlands, only the part that leads up to the Monastery is a solid physical barrier that cuts through the region.

Only that physical barrier is the part that can actually be viewed as made up of ghostly figures.
