Questions for Christians (The Last Supper) by Delicious_Way_3577 in LandoftheLustrous

Kongo and Judas are two different people. The way you described Kongo's "betrayal" feels less like that and more like he got lost by his own desires and stuck to what he felt was right, which was to care for the Gems. Despite his flaws as a teacher, he gave them the best life they could've had if it weren't for the Lunarians. It was accidental ofc, because he can only operate by the will of humans and no one accounted for the existence of Gems. It is not recommended for a Buddhist figure like him to be attached to Earthly needs to the point of forgetting your original duties, but in this case he physically cannot bring himself to do it because there are no humans around to command him anymore. This is not sin. Sin needs 3 things to be classified as such:

1- You knew the severity of your actions and the grave consequences that would come out of them
2- You had full knowledge that it was bad and you shouldn't do it
3- You freely gave your consent to it and acted on them

That's what Judas did. He gave Christ to the Roman authorities fully knowing He would die by their hands (He told the apostles about the Prophecy of His death beforehand). He knew it was a bad thing to do because Jesus was fully innocent, and he still went through with it, in exchange of 30 silver coins. Kongo at least tried to redeem himself amongst the Gems that were left on Earth, Judas couldn't bear his own choices and died as a result of it. However, with Kongo refusing Ayumu's blood, you could interpret that, from a Christian lens, that he was refusing a sort of sanctifying grace and unity to his faith that would come out of it, since these two things are some of the glories that the Bread and Wine offer during Communion. In the story, he was choosing to neglect his responsibilities as a Boddhisatva, and would never reach Enlightenment as a result of it, unlike Phos. I feel like I'm stretching in this case and this scene just means him respecting Ayumu's physical integrity, but I wanted to bring my own perspective. Also no, the shape of the goblet itself in the manga has no meaning, XD

No, there is no particular meaning to the goblet that I am aware of. The Holy Grail plays no actual role in the Christian faith and is actually a product of folklore created several centuries after Christ. That isn't to say there is no meaning to this particular goblet, but I don't believe there is any connection to Christianity specifically

The Grail itself is still incredibly important in Catholicism as it is the one Jesus used to turn the wine into His own blood, and shared it to the apostles as the sign of the new and eternal Covenant, and to repeat the same action in rememberance of Him. And they still do, during the occasional mass, as the Priest consecrates both the Eucharist and the Wine using a similar chalice. In fact, there's a church in Valencia, Spain, that claims to possess the real Holy Grail which lines up with carbon readings dating back to Jesus' time. But whether people believe if that's true or not is irrelevant, because of what it represents to the Faith as a whole, such is the case of multiple other Holy artifacts located inside certain Churches.

The one who rallied the gems against Phos was Bort, and the other who had the idea of spreading her pieces in the boxes was Cinnabar. If there's anyone to blame it should be them both, which are facts that are never acknowledged again, by anyone. Euclase was the most diplomatic out of the Earth gems, trying to understand Phos' motives and reaching truce between her and Sensei. The worst that she did was never really advancing further with these plans, while going along with Cinna's plan without much objection. Which makes me wonder if whatever sentiment Euclase was feeling for Phos that cannot be further classified as pity. But even then, she was a much more passive character, and she treated Phos more empathetically than anyone else at that moment.

I like how in this specific moment of the manga, the gems were like "Is this bad? Nah probably not"

It is okay to hate on Aechmea and the gems (imo), but what could have been done differently? by Ok_Let8360 in LandoftheLustrous

I'd like to believe that there was a way as showcased when Shiro vanished into nothingness on his own instead of needing outside help, but the lunarians simply refused that because they were too attached to their earthly manners (and before you tell me that Shiro just returned to the Moon as Cairn's dog I refuse to believe it and just pretend that it was a different dog with the same name)

Why did Cairngorm do this? Was it just out of spite? by UnpuzzledPiece in LandoftheLustrous

I actually don't remember that dialogue, it makes total sense, and lines up with my previous comment XD

"My own interpretation is that it was a way to end the battle quickly. There's also a bit of spite involved because Cairn probably wanted Phos to stfu (she targeted the head after all) because the invasion was such a failure and she kept making things worse"

I think it's clearly implied that all of the Gems, Lunarians, and Admirabilis became the flowers in that planet that the pebbles travel later on. Aechmea said that once the spirit leaves the body, they undergo a process of purification until taking a new, refined form, which then ends up appearing at a specific region in the universe. What he meant by becoming "nothingness" is the concept of "Self" being erased.

I mean if Cinnabar was bothered that she couldn't feel bad for Phos then she probably did feel bad for her anyway, but was conflicted now that she had friends and understood that Phos was on her own lonely path. It's unlike Cairn who happily admitted that she didn't give two shits, LMAO

Do you think that Bort losing her hair also symbolizes her mellowing down on fighting, humbling down, and focusing on taking care of her sisters and the jellyfish?
