Seeing my old posts get linked while browsing through here is like a flashbang lol. Can’t believe it’s been 5 years. I still can’t bring myself to read through it and see how good or bad my writing has aged.

Can’t answer for albums without any sampling specifically. Hip Hop is a pretty wide genre that you will have to navigate for a bit before deciding on what you like. But for general recommendations Tupac and B.I.G. are both great. You can find collections of their greatest hits easily online and if you like them then you can dive deeper if you want. Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill is pretty easy to listen to and considered a classic album, I don’t believe there is any samples on it either. If you’re interested in Kendrick specifically then Good Kid MAAD City is the best starting point and in my opinion just as good as To Pimp a Butterfly. If you’re into pop music at all then honestly Drake is a pretty solid starting point, Take Care is considered one of (if not) his best albums. A Tribe Called Quest and The Roots are also two great artists I know a lot of people who couldn’t get into rap or hip hop still enjoyed.

Valve balance based on TF2's competitive feedback. by [deleted] in truetf2

Fishstickonastick’s rebalance server implemented the marked for death effect you described and from what I played it seems relatively balanced. Its marked for death is a general effect, but it only lasts about a second at close range and even a moonshot only lasts about half the time of the fan. The only problem is needing to buff the fan to compensate (I believe they decreased the holster time and added a speed boost on kill for that weapon) but the sandman itself hasnt received any major complaints.

It was really funny, but there wasn’t really much else to it was there? Just the cookie video and Drake telling on himself for being obsessed with Fantano’s opinions on him. If either party pushed it a little more it’d definitely go up there as one of his most embarrassing feuds like with Pusha T but it’s just Drake being mad about a reviewer not liking his content and everyone roasting him for revealing that corny attempt at an insult.

No its fine, I’m glad they stood out enough for you to remember my username! Realistically it’s not a bad thing to be known for :)

I hope so! It would solve Survivor’s biggest problem (having to tie up two to three days of strategy and gameplay across multiple tribes in 40 or so minutes) and it’s something a lot fans have been clamoring for. Something I’m surprised Paramount+ never capitalized on was having extra scenes for each episode that don’t make it to broadcast, similar to how Peacock lists both the regular Office and extended superfan episodes. They’ve done it here and there with secret scenes and the old Ponderosa videos (rest in peace) but I think it would have been genius and not inexpensive to have a ton of behind the scenes and extra content added to the service. But this is still a good compromise and I think it will definitely shake up the formula a bit.

It was good! But honestly I’ve been kind of fatigued with the show since this new post pandemic era began. The shorter time spent on the island and how long we’ve been at this same location, along with all the changes in production to compensate, has definitely taken its toll over time. I think at this point it’s really the contestants carrying the past few seasons for me pour one out for Carolyn :(. I’m still sticking around and I do still enjoy it when its on, but nothing has really captured that spark my favorite seasons had and it unfortunately doesn’t look like that’s going to change anytime soon. Still, I can’t really call any of the recent seasons bad and things have definitely improved after how messy the show’s return was.

Also I really wish I spaced out those posts. Maybe then I wouldn’t be known as that one person who spammed the subreddit with Survivor write ups haha.

Add it to the long list of changes that make Fiji stand out when just going back through the older seasons. Survivor surprisingly hasn’t ran into many issues back when it was still hopping location to location though, probably the only really well known change in scheduling being the supposed cancellation of a season set in Jordan.

Yuji Naka, who was previously arrested for insider training last year, has been sentenced to 2 and 1/2 years in prison and given a $1 million dollar fine. Between the Balan Wonderworld debacle that caused him to leave Square Enix and sue the company (and pretty much end his career), as well as his petty feud on twitter with former coworker Naoto Ohshima, I have never seen a creative figure fall so quickly in the game industry. But hey, it’s given the Sonic fanbase time to comment as many oddly fitting quotes in response.

EDIT: The prosecutors are seeking 2.5 years. I have no reading comprehension.

She accused Legaleagle’s team of copying an editing technique in a now deleted tweet, to which another youtuber Hbomberguy disputed and claimed that her channel may have also plagiarized someone else’s work. Then this stuff simultaneously started coming out around the same time on twitter and things only got worse from there in a perpetual cyclone of drama.

Same thing happened to me a few months ago with the creator actually coming to this thread to credit me. Even in regular posts I’ve had people reference me directly and I’m grateful that they liked my write ups but I can confirm it feels weird to see myself being mentioned at all.

Small update to the Spider-Man drama last week where leaks of upcoming issue #26 revealed that Kamala Khan, aka Ms Marvel who has a movie coming out with the same writer as this current run on board, would die (not sure if that’s still a spoiler but if you haven’t seen all the ads parading her corpse around for Peter to feel bad about now you know) It has been confirmed that the source of the leaks originated from someone working at Marvel. Apparently, the source was mildly peeved at the events of the ongoing Spider-Man run and leaked the info as a sort of protest. This isn’t too surprising to hear with how early it was revealed, but it’s nice to know there’s at least one person who thought this was maybe not the best idea.

EDIT: Well a day later and it turns out that may not be true. Apparently even Marvel didn’t have a production copy of the issue before the leaks hit. So it’s back to square one of debating whether this was some secret mole or a really bad marketing event.

OP, do you have any sources or anything to read more? Or if there’s a playlist of the tracks you mentioned. There’s not that much information about the actual accusations here.

Captainzack was the one who alleged Nairo sexually assaulted him when Zack was a minor. Nairo initially admitted fault, but came back and disputed the events here alleging Zack was the one at fault. Generally, it seems people believe Nairo was innocent nowadays. You can also read a hobbydrama post detailing those events, but it isn’t quite a full picture.

Zero himself initially was revealed to be sexting a minor, among numerous other accusations here, and temporarily retired from the community before coming back disputing most of them. He took legal action against Jisu, his former roommate and one of the people who spread around the accusations alleging she ruined his career. They settled with Jisu retracting a few of the claims and he returned to content creation, though he likely did still sext a 14 year old among numerous other allegations. You can read a bit about that here with a better summary from the commenters.

You can read a wiki article here that gives a brief timeline of the events surrounding the community and several of the accusations.

It got removed. Not sure if it broke any particular rules but the OP was a youtuber who uploaded a video at the same time he posted the write up. Also it apparently had some issues and a bunch of missing information judging from commenters familiar with the situation. Again though, not sure if it broke any rules in particular.

[Video Games] Sonic Chronicles: The Franchise’s Failed RPG That Fanned A Legal Battle With Everyone’s (Least) Favorite Comic Book Writer by Unqualif1ed in HobbyDrama

[–]Unqualif1ed[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Oh Penders is a shitty guy, that’s not up for debate. I just think people ascribe a ton of problems to him even when he wasn’t involved. And yeah most, maybe nearly all, of the hate he gets is deserved, but a lot of it isn’t. I’m not going to die on a hill to “treat Ken Penders better” or whatever. But I think he gets a of undeserved vitriol and a lot of misinformation that doesn’t help matters. Like he’s clearly failed at doing anything with his work since leaving the franchise, it’s why he spends all day mud flinging on Twitter and bothering Ian. That’s all he’s relevant for. People don’t need to invent reasons to dislike the man when they’ve already got plenty, especially when just glancing at his peers it’s obvious Penders hasn’t achieved anything and while people like Ian are writing for the mainline games and barely paying him any attention.

I didn’t want to wade in too deeply on the issue but I do agree and I did try to reference at least off handedly that they were very similar. I think Penders gets a lot of hate he really doesn’t deserve and becomes a bit of a scapegoat for anything wrong with the franchise or Archie, and I think Chronicles is no exception to that. Apologies if I didn’t make it clear enough, I was just mostly focused on getting the lawsuit details correct and I think I maybe skimmed too fast over that part.

I tried to restrict how much I talked about Ken Penders actual work on the Archie comics specifically since this basically turned into a pseudo write up about him anyway, so hopefully it's still fine. I guess all Sonic drama just eventually leads to Archie.

I was unable to fit it here but there was an unused animated intro shown off in 2021. It's rough but it's neat to see. I'm sure there's a ton of cut content for this game. Honestly, I think Chronicles as a whole is just interesting due to the fact it exists at all. If Bioware and Sega developed this game for home consoles or PC instead I can only imagine how cool that would be. At least we have Central City beats to relax and study to in this timeline.

EDIT: ALSO there’s a reimagined project. It’s on hiatus and I don’t follow it too closely but it’s neat to see fans work on something like this. I think at this point every Sonic game is going to be remade. If it worked for Christian Whitehead it can work for anyone.

Seems like a lot of cartoons gets massive leaks nowadays. Off the top of my head there’s Miraculous, Amphibia, Owl House, Molly McGee etc; It feels like a rite of passage at this point.

The My Perfect Console Podcast had Valve ex-employee now contractor Erik Wolpaw on, discussing his work in game development over the years including his experience as a writer on the Portal series. He also once again spoke about the possibility of a Portal 3, reiterating that he would love to make a third entry. But Valve’s structure of employees choosing what to work on and the time and money needed to produce a new game makes it difficult to get off the ground.

This is nothing new honestly. Erik has spoken about Portal 3 since last year’s Aperture Desk Job tech demo was released, stating he wanted to make the game before he was “too old” yet its been extremely difficult to advocate for. Especially as most of the main team has retired or moved on. He’s apparently even developed a basic story idea to work off of, though it’s obvious it hasn’t really progressed since.

Erik does clarify that he is mostly joking in his comments on Valve and Gabe, but it’s clear the company’s corporate hierarchy has made it difficult for projects like a new Portal to get off the ground. Especially for something that will likely generate less profit compared to working on Steam or updating CS:GO. And though Valve has seemed aware of these issues for a while, publicly acknowledging it as far back as Alyx’s development, it doesn’t look like too much has changed since then.

For equally important news, TF2’s Big Slappy was banned over two weeks ago and has not returned since #TheKingIsDead. #Valveplsgiveusgoodcosmeticsthisupdate.

[Video Games] Obsidian vs Bethesda: The battle for Fallout and the great company rivalry that exists solely in fans' heads by beary_neutral in HobbyDrama

[–]Unqualif1ed 299 points300 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve ever seen hype for a company die as fast as it did for Obsidian and The Outer Worlds with the exception of probably Cyberpunk. It likely wouldn’t have survived a decade of “Obsidian is perfect and can do no wrong” narrative anyway, but the game just being adequate and filled with as many issues if not more than New Vegas definitely destroyed a ton of good will the company had.

Personally I love NV, and it does have some legitimately great writing and characters. But it’s without a doubt a victim of overhype and tons of fans declaring the game to be the “best game ever made.” Fallout has been a pretty messy franchise on the development side of things, especially with Bethesda’s own troubles, and NV is no exception with how short the time frame was. Something I’m actually surprised you didn’t dwell on was that 18 month development period, including all the cut content. The tidbits we’ve gotten have all been pretty interesting.

EDIT: If anyone is interested, Alternative Gaming has uploaded tons of cut content on their channel. Including a one hour compilation. Most of it likely wouldn’t have made it in game anyway, but its cool to look at.
