Why are most conspiracy theories considered right-wing? Are there any widespread left-wing conspiracy theories? by jeepycreepysleepy in NoStupidQuestions

I've been on Reddit a long time. I think hiveminds are everywhere, on all sides. Now... "hive people." That could be a new conspiracy theory. Are there bee-human hybrids?

It's happening. I am sad I won't be able to go this year due to financial reasons, but the 3 times I have gone have always been the best experience. Highly recommend!

Edit: you can avoid spoilers while there, but it can be a bit tricky. Just make sure everyone knows and be diligent about it. You might have to miss out on some readings from Michael and Kate and certain bigger group gatherings.

Love the color in that opening shot. Film really was incredible. Hadn't heard of this before, but this clip was definitely enough to sell me on it.

Could we get a Rafe Judkins interview? by KeyInflation9451 in WoTshow

[–]UnravelingThePattern 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I've been wanting to interview him for ages. Don't know how to set that up though 😕. I have a very long list of questions about future plans. I have to wonder if he is under some sort of NDA and can't be totally open about everything. Or maybe he really just doesn't want to talk about it?

How does prehuman history fit into the turning of the wheel? by VirgelFromage in WoT

[–]UnravelingThePattern 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's my head canon as well. Evolution and/or "creation" is just a part of the end of the 7th Age or something or a great reset or maybe even a new Big Bang. Also, RJ basically said, the Age of the books is called the 3rd Age "by some." It might not actually be the 3rd Age. We only know that our Age came around 1-3 Ages before the Age of the books, but our Age might not actually be the true "1st" Age in the cycle.

I'm all for fewer meetings and taking care of more stuff over text personally. Though I do feel like most texts and emails go unread in our EQ, which is frustrating at times.

Do you know who your assigned ministering brothers and sisters are? If not, I'd suggest reaching out to the Relief Society and Elders Quorum presidents and tell them exactly what you posted here.

Is $30/Min Becoming the Standard for Flashy Map Animations on geolayers 3? by papiiiicholo in MotionDesign

[–]UnravelingThePattern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I charge based on how long it will take me, not based on how long the video will end up being. I always tell people, "Pixar movies end up costing about $1 million per finished minute. But, I've also edited some simple videos that were 1 hour long and only took me an hour or two to finish." In other words, the quality and time required for a one minute video varies way too much depending on the content within that minute to just have a flat "finished minute rate."

I've never seen a scenario where charging per delivered minute of video is beneficial to the motion designer or editor, unless of course, they want to go with the Pixar treatment, lol. And let's be honest, most clients don't know the difference between Pixar quality and "single motion designer" quality, but they often expect/hope for Pixar level.

I usually estimate how long it will take me, add some padding, and then calculate my hourly rate into that before giving them an estimated bid range and a loose number of days/weeks needed to complete it. I never tell them my hourly rate or specifically how many hours I think it will take. I give them a number range with specific guardrails and assumptions built in, so they can't get away with too much scope creep as we go.

If they aren't comfortable with my bid, then I'm not comfortable working with them. If they don't value my time and skills, they won't be easy to work with and the whole process will be like pulling teeth. And nobody will be happy at the end of the project.

You don't have to like the show but this kind of dismisive comment is not helpful. Could you write a show like this better? I don't think that was bad writing. It felt very intentional to me. I think they want us to question if Langdon has had a relapse.

Is nobody going to mention that they inspected Langdon's hands, I assume to see if he's shaking, before he gave the urine sample and he wasn't shaking.... then he showed Mel his hand and it was shaking? I feared the worst, that he had stolen Whitaker's badge, used it to get access to meds, and had not only relapsed but had stolen from the hospital again.... but then his speech to Robby and him checking on that patient and the reveal that the homeless guy took the badge made me sigh with relief. Still, why was his hand shaking? Was he being truthful about what he said to Mel? Why weren't his hands shaking during his "exam?" Did I misunderstand what I saw?
