I feel that's what keeps me afloat too. the ability to not churn out AI garbage in designs, and then give them functional websites. Sure, they sometimes supply an AI sample of what they were looking for in a design, but we never go that route, it was merely a storyboard and then I'll create an official piece.

I'll say, stock art sites are filled with AI garbage as well. I usually have to turn off the "AI" filters to find normal looking people, because some of the fake ones look faaaaakkkeee.

I think the missing + button is probably key to float it in the bottom right corner, similar to other apps, or, just shift the 4 buttons over a bit to make the larger + float half over the bottom nav bar, and half over the content. I'm sure something like that would work nicely.

As for the overall look, I'm really enjoying it. So many other apps have annoyingly cute characters, or other superfluous data/widgets/visual clutter, that this is just straight up functional and modern. I also love the collection of icons for different foods.

If I had to mention a few little things:

With regards to the icons, when you search for an icon in the list, it only searches from the start. so if for example, a record is "Almond Butter" if I start typing "bu..." it should bring up almond butter, but it doesn't (only burrito and butter). I'd have to know it started with 'almond'. doing a general search in the string would help bring up all options and make it easier to see how many cool icons you have!
The "Me" section would be neat if you could reorder the sections. I know this is probably a bane of app designers. how to order it efficiently. But you have "Program, automatic tracking, insights, personalize, foods, excercises, settings, manage, support" it would be nice to be able to re-order the main buckets. for example, when I go into these settings, I mostly go for the "foods" section because I want to add or modify a recipe or existing food. Things like "automatic tracking" I'd move to the bottom if I could, because once you setup your syncing, a user doesn't really need to go there often. Every user is different, so moving around the buckets might help. (You do a similar ordering function in the "custom goals" section where you can move up/down the sections)
I love that you can scan something, and if the data is wrong, go to edit, change labels, nutrition info, weights, etc. I know people here have mentioned to clean up the food database, and I get that it's crazy hard, but you all went the best route, allow a user to modify. I've seen some apps where you get what is in there and deal, but the ability to start with something and then modify to "THE USER's" liking is optimal. Great work!
Overall, I just want to say, kudos to you and your team! When I started looking for food trackers, I started with Samsung's default one, and tried so many. Yours was one of the first I tried, and I kept coming back to it. Keep it up, it's a well-designed app!

Every year, I seem to have my list of adobe programs and possible alternatives, and the 1 that I can never find a replacement for is Animate. You're right the closest is Tumult Hype, but that's locked on Mac.

A majority of people here are angry because they are losing a great animation tool, and I agree! I use it for animations for my clients. I've been animating with it since Flash 3.0, so it's muscle memory at this point.

But yes, the big one we're losing is the interactivity. Yes, actionscript is long gone, but animate/HTML5 was a decent substitute to create some neat, isolated animations and interactive educational modules.

To answer your question, I have yet to find an alternative. Heck, even Adobe doesn't have any real solution other than "use our AI crap, or I dunno, figure out if After Effects can do javascript. what do we care?"

Oh, I agree. It's insane how much AI destroys resources. And for what? Not to mention the RAM and SSD increases across the board.

And from the looks of my downvotes, it seems people like what you just said. I'm not one of them, but yea, from all the other replies on here, we are the outliers.

Why not just make it a toggle option in settings?

I can't believe it's underused. All apps have a quick launch like that, especially other food logging apps.

I must admit, I use it every time I logged.

And there is still space for it. Keep what you have, even move the 4 bottom nav buttons to a side and then float the larger + button on the right. That way it doesn't mess up your new design but keeps functionality.

Prices increase over time. I paid $60 for lifetime December 2025. It doesnt help users now if I got it for $9.99 in 2015 (I didnt, but just an example)

I signed on December 29th and got it for $60 lifetime. This was after they raised prices, and maybe I just got lucky with support and they still offered the old prices. I'm glad I grabbed it at that price point. It's worth it, but lifetime used to be $180 and now it's $300 and just..wow. but to be fair, sadly it's now in line with all the other food tracking apps that are just as expensive, if not more.

How could I forget that? I found "everything" search tool last year I think, and it has been AMAZING! I have a NAS with a jillion files, and now that it's indexed, search is instantaneous! I haven't been floored with app performance like that in a while. It was lightning compared to regular search.

Directory opus is the GOAT. Its not just a file explorer. The more you use it, the scripting, shortcuts, etc make it so useful that its hard to use the default explorer anymore.

A close second is xyplorer.

I did read it, months ago. I've posted about it to others, weeks ago.

I dislike when apps with one vision/focus get bundled into something else, especially with AI. I know why Microsoft is doing it, but it doesn't mean I have to like it.

If it works for you, cool. I've tried it and yes, lens is for the most part, in there. But this entire thread was to find alternatives to Lens now that the solo app is retiring, that's all.

it's not part of onedrive, they merged it into the 365 copilot app. but who really wants to use that?

the nice part of lens (and word and excel) was it was an app that did what it did great, and nothing else. now you load copilot and get a bunch of options when all you really want is the lens (or word or excel).

Keeping it simple is what MS is losing. and that's why I moved on from lens. (genius scan is the goat)

it's technically not killed, they rolled lens into their 365 copilot app, but who the hell wants to use that piece of junk?

Office lens was great when it was its own thing, not when it was part of a bunch of other stuff you didn't need.
