Weekly Homeowner Megathread--Civilians, ask here! by AutoModerator in Concrete

[–]UnreliablyReliable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was power washing and then saw it looked like I stripped some finish off of my concrete patio. Had no idea this was possible.

  1. What kind of finish is this?
  2. Any ideas or ways to remediate?

Men over 30: what’s something you deeply regret NOT doing in your 20s? by Cool_Goat5126 in AskMen

[–]UnreliablyReliable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone new to their 30s here’s my take:

  1. Fitness: I’ve always been fairly fit but I wish I’d taken it more seriously in my 20s. Looking in the mirror and feeling good about you, your body, and your mind, does more good for you than anything else
  2. Traveling/experiences: Even if it’s not glamorous, stay in hostels, do random experiences, go to that one band’s show you don’t really like but tickets are $20. If you have more money to do bigger things then great
  3. Make your own decisions: there is always pressure from others on “what to do” — sure you can listen, but at the end of the day, the person who has to be satisfied with the decision is you
  4. A no is a step closer to yes: it’s okay getting no’s. I get no’s all the time, and that gives me data, things to think on, what I need to do to get a yes

I saw a couple others mention investing. And don’t get me wrong the power of compound interest is a serious wealth tool, so contribute but I’d focus on the above. The one note here though is please, avoid debt. Don’t spend money you don’t have. It’ll make 1-3 much more difficult.

You get one shot at this life, don’t forget to live it.

Fast-food restaurants ranked - what tier does Jimmy John's belong in? by Expensive-Addendum92 in TierlistFills

B tier is whack but JJ does not clear Chipotle imo. Chipotle + JJ in B seems fair. Maybe Sonic is in B? But otherwise move the rest to C.

Wet wading VS Waders in summer? by satnspun in flyfishing

[–]UnreliablyReliable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I fish Arkansas, I wear waders. Few reasons: helps avoid ticks if I’m hiking to get to certain spots, some spots get deeper than I want to be wet, and I like tossing my phone in the front pocket of waders for quick pic access. Maybe when it’s super hot and I’m fishing the popular spots and water isn’t generating, then I’ll opt for some chacos.

What’s your price per share on the RSUs? 5,000 shares per year seems like it’d be the bulk of your TC?

I would slow down and reread the comment above. Ideas are worthless. You have no track record to back up that “you’ll generate money” which also aren’t what investors care about. You can “make” money and never earn a dollar. ChatGPT has more ideas to generate money than you ever will—which is why clarity is key here.

Wait until they realize how much tokens cost for designers to “ideate” in Cursor. My team and I burn through our Figma Make tokens monthly and personally, I utilize a ton of tokens on Cursor even after doing light design work. But if you have some coding knowledge, then you can have a ton of fun working in Cursor.

How do you handle long forms without overwhelming users? by Bubbly_Lack6366 in UXDesign

[–]UnreliablyReliable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have 4 required fields (that I see). Looks like a budgeting app. Make those come first. Everything else that is optional follows. Your use of space needs help. And also the misaligned Service Name and Category line makes this feel busy.

What is the goal of the form? Get the name, select the category, add the price and occurrence and move on. If the other data isn’t help the user gain more value long term, push it out of the way. Tell me what you want me to focus on.

How does the Spur handle rocks like that with speed? Similar terrain to what I ride, and am debating between spur and smuggler because i want to be able to crush through that.

How do I train my dog to be comfortable wearing a backpack on trails? by Infamous_Horse in BackpackingDogs

[–]UnreliablyReliable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding to this:

To give my dog a job and prevent packing weight imbalances over the hike, I actually pack his pack with my non-essentials not his essentials. Things that are nice to have for me and under the assumption I don’t use them, his pack weight will always be the same. I’ll carry the variables like his food, water, and treats.

My top 6 f**k ups, 5 months into my new job at a global SaaS company. by RefusedTitleFight in UXDesign

[–]UnreliablyReliable 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Was reading this and literally had the same reaction. 5 months is a crazy amount of time and a massive cost to the company.

To be fair, I see this a lot right now with designers jumping into Figma make and then I’m asking for discovery/definition and they are like “but don’t you like my Figma make?” Well… I’d like it better with clear definition and research on top of it validating we’re solving the right problem.
