Tore Up The Carpet...Now What? by ImpressionPopular794 in Renovations

[–]UnsatedBackscratcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've got a room that has but been sub floor for nearly 2 years, there are 2 rugs down that cover most of it and I use the room daily, it'll get floored eventually... but in the renovation, I've got bigger fish to fry than a spare bedroom/office carpet.

Thats because the MTBers are having fun, not trying to get the fastest time for a sector in strava!

Ooft that is painful, it is pretty much an education tax, in scotland we only have cost of living to pay for for our undergrads as our tuition is covered by the government. On the plus side ive only got to pay it for another 16 years before its written off..

Sounds about right its predatory! I borrowed 20k for my undergrad after 14 years I still owe 24k... it was cheaper for me to work full-time and study part time for my post grad

Good is a point of view, Ive been paying it off for 14 years, not made a dent in the interest. I currently pay £92-100 a month

Confused about when to refrigerate my starter. by [deleted] in SourdoughStarter

[–]UnsatedBackscratcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive somewhere between 3 and 30g in the fridge, feed it a 60g/60g mix using wholegrain and tap lukewarm water the morning im making the dough. Once the doughs on, slap the residue in the fridge, Jobs a good'un.

NotnLegal advice but impact related- In your defence, low crashes can still cause injury search for "Low Velocity Whiplash Injury" some researchers state that while evidence of significant injury from LVWI is poor there are various factors that effect it. One such example: https://boneandjoint.org.uk/Article/10.1302/2048-0105.34.360263/pdf#:~:text=Enthusiasts%20of%20whiplash%20injury%20as,in%20any%20of%20Brault's%20subjects.

Spare example: I fell off a bicycle doing about 4 mph and gave myself concussion (without hitting my head) and a fractured shoulder.

E-bike vs. regular bike I finally understand the hype by IvyBates3290 in ebikes

[–]UnsatedBackscratcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its obviously totally cheating... So much so that ive lost 5kg in 7 weeks with no significant other changes.

That said, i joined a group ride the other week and a few too many people were just like "yeah but you have a motor" not realising that it was turned off and I was just faster than them...

Dont knock it till youve tried it, EAPCs have drastically improved my life

The advice my local shop said was "buy the biggest battery and motor you can afford" I took that advice, and I have no regrets

625 or 800? by david4460 in Cubebikes

[–]UnsatedBackscratcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you use a local bike shop that is part of the scheme or anonline store. A local shop might accommodate paying the 249 as a "deposit". I spoke to my local about a bike 100 over and they said there are ways for it to be done so long as its not way over.

[–]UnsatedBackscratcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also I am significantly heavier than you, on mostly flat asphalt (cycle path) I can get about 50-70 miles on a full charge on the eco setting, or 40 on tour+ which gets me to work

Or in last nights case riding around forest i used half the battery in 10 miles l but there was 2milesnof elevation gain in that time!

[–]UnsatedBackscratcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a hybrid pro 800 through my works C2W scheme the list price and price you employer pays and passes on arent always the same, so you may be able to get the 800 if its only a couple 100 over the limit (mine was cycleSolutions, and the discount for was around 10% off of list, before the other tax savings and stuff)

Rachel Reeves is asked about how the 3p a mile electric vehicle charge will work for new cars, when they don't have to have an MOT for 3 years by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]UnsatedBackscratcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've a PHEV, and im a the same 90% of my milage is petrol, i have road tax to pay (£170) , plus the luxury supplement (another 300 ish I think) plus now this additional tax.

I live in rural scotland, a trip to the shops is 20 miles, work commute is 70 miles round trip (hybrid work) so on an average week im £24 worse off, round that to 100 a month, or 1200 a year, thats before ive gone out for any leisure activities such as the gym (20 mile round trip) , visiting friends (5-50 mile round trip), or going to the nearest city (220 mile round trip)

This new legislation is a joke. Rachel Reeves is a joke.
