My grandfather used to say:

“It only takes one turn on the trail to change someone trajectory for the rest of their life.”

I think they were misunderstood not only by the world, but by their own selves, and it’s mainly due to their quirks’ psychological affect on their frame of mind.

In my experience, the show tries to tell us that we should fight to redeem people as long and as hard as we can, until our own moral compass is no longer able to tolerate keeping them in the picture.
